The problem with Paige is that when she came up to the main roster, she either got waylaid by all the stupid non-wrestling shit she had to do (more media whoring, Total Divas, much increased traveling, etc) and couldn't get enough time to focus on wrestling and being physically ready for it, and therefore turned to shit, or she let all the attention and acclaim go to her head, started slacking off, and turned to shit. Either way, she was REALLY sloppy for an extended period of time, fucking up things left and right.

And her goddamn shrieking is Change The Channel heat.

It is cringe worthy, especially when it comes to Reigns and his looney tunes jokes. It's just dumb as hell. The wrestlers really try but there's only so much you can do on ability alone. You need compelling storylines and feuds to go along with skill.

The Divas title feud is probably the best feud on the main roster right now, which says a lot about the state of the company. It's coherent, mostly well booked and all three women are talented.

When the storylines are well written (daniel bryan's road to wrestlemania for example) they're done really well.

The problem is that Creative is something like 27 goddamn writers, none of whom are good enough to find less embarrassing work elsewhere, and it's headed up by a goddamn madman. With THAT many chefs, everything gets reduced to the Lowest Common (Vince Approved) Denominator.

Which is why, if a wrestler even gets to have a character, it's usually either a face that's a goddamn boring as shit Cena knockoff (Reigns, Face Sheamus), or a one-dimensional chicken-shit heel. None of the characters show any motivations for what they do (even to the point of not seeming particularly motivated to win. KO in NXT was great because his stated motivation was to win money to support his family, but his actions made it clear that it was just to feed his own ego, so everyone could get behind hating him. Now he's on the main roster saying his Wrestlemania match will be better than Flair vs Steamboat, he doesn't even give a shit about winning). Because of this, it makes ti hard for the audience to identify for or against any of them. They're generic cardboard cutouts slamming into each other.

And if anyone COULD get behind, or at least against, any character in spite of all that, the shitty, inconsistent, stop-start, 50/50 booking will ruined.

The AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho feud is probably the best non-Diva angle going right now, largely because Jericho has been an excellent dick of a self obsessed heel. And while Jericho has gotten a win, it's been fairly clear that AJ is the better wrestler (in storyline anyway) by getting more wins, and that Jericho is just mad jelly.

The Diva's angle is the best because they all have their own distinct characters, even if Charlotte's character is really just "HEY LOOK IT'S RIC FLAIR." Sasha is a talented, and arrogant because of it, cunning tweener, and Becky Lynch is a plucky, dullwitted, underdog who's had to come back from career threatening injuries to make one last run at her dream.
