Because the WWE can't do babyfaces anymore. They either want them to be like Daniel Bryan or John Cena.
Or they don't even try, give them terrible promos, 50/50 booking and no one gets over.
Being heel is generally easier, specially in terms of promos, so they can still get over.

Dave Meltzer seems unhinged lately.
He just hasn't seemed the same since Vince Russo started his Castrating the Marks series.
Dave's recent anti-Jinder rant didn't make any sense. He claimed without any evidence that Jinder's push is just a marketing ploy to make money in India, but in reality, Jinder's big push is because Vinnie Mac is super high on him.
The guy is even starting to turn on his favourites like Nakamura. Russo was more positive on Shinsuke's debut than Meltzer was for fucks sake.
Vince Russo has really gotten in his head.
