>Dave opens the issue by talking about how PPV numbers for both WWF and WCW are down compared to recent years, even though TV ratings and house show business is up. For instance, this year's Bash At The Beach PPV, which had the hot Outsiders angle and the heavily-hyped "3rd man" reveal actually did a lower buyrate than last year's Bash At The Beach PPV which featured the 3rd PPV match between Hogan/Vader (and the first 2 had been disappointing).

You know what you stupid indie fucks, who cares about ratings? who cares about match quality? only stupid fat losers do, you know what really matters? money.
Oh wow Okada vs Omega has 6 stars, so what, Bliss and Alexa probably got paid more and did much less, and he'll o bet they didn't even care about the match because they knew they got paid more than any NJPW fag for doing less, hell look at guys like Karl Anderson, he is a fucking jobber but he gets paid more than Okada and Omega, who gives a shit about these shit stars or about match quality, aslong as you bring money you are good, I'd rather see a successful 1 star match that draws the comes than see 2 gooks kill another for bus fare.
Plus WWE guys don't give a fuck about wrestling, they don't care about passion, they know this is a shit show but don't care because they are drawing the big comes even as a fucking jobber and that makes them better then the NJPW gooks.
The funniest thing to me is they spout out Meltzer's ratings like they have any other meaning than one guy's opinion of a match.

So with both Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi in the G1 tournament this year, it's highly likely that both of them will eventually cross paths on their ways to the finals. Now whether either of them goes to the finals or not is a different story but assuming they cross paths, wouldn't it be awesome if they had a controversial match together where they DON'T hit each other and take it incredibly easy on each other? Not only will this finally acknowledge, PWG style, that Professional Wrestling is a fake sport, a revelation that has been known for decades now but it's also a callback to their very good friendship and inability to hurt each other considering they've been friends and possibly even closer than that since way back then. This coincides with the wrestling audience consisting almost entirely of hardcore fans with no casuals who know that these matches are predetermined and that modern wrestling matches must be told and constructed in a different way. Their punches, forearms, kicks and other strikes intentionally miss by a mile, every strike straying further from the mark until Kenny Omega is superkicking the air while Kota's face is 50 feet away but he still bumps and sells the whiplash of his Jaw, their suplexes and slams are very slow and gentle as they drop each other onto the mat incredibly safely to the delight of the crowd. Instead of "fighting", they tell the story of two very close friends having a comically safe match in front of a smark audience that can appreciate the uniqueness of the match, eventually ending in a Rock-Paper-Scissors to determine who moves on, or a funny finish before they hug it out in the middle of the ring while the crowd gives them a standing ovation.
It can be a worked shoot, in a way. Manipulating the audience into believing that these two were breaking scripts, characters and "going into business for themselves". Wrestling traditionalists like Vader and Cornette will lose their shit like they did with Ricochet and Ospreay but in an event where there are plenty of matches that are physical, real and hard-hitting, a match like this could definitely get the wrestling world buzzing as a breath of fresh air. Anyway, just fantasy booking here, what're your thoughts on this idea? Would it work or would it forever damage and destroy wrestling permanently?
>>2785696
taichi and taka basically did this during best of the super juniors
That's so fucking lame and would do neither of them any kind of favors. If anything they should just do an extended mat/technical section to show they don't wanna hurt eachother and then Kenny slaps Ibushi on a break or some shit and it gets instense.
Your idea is garbage and you should feel bad.
Has there ever been a championship belt that started off as a joke/irrelevant but ended up acquiring a lot of kayfabe prestige?
Universal title i guess.
It feels more relevant than the WWE championship since they put it on Lesnar.

I'm glad Mayu is too ugly for WWE to go after. At least one of the Stardom trio will avoid being ruined.

Eric Bischoff said during a TNA's “State of the Union” address radio show on 30th January 2010, that he didn’t see Chris Jericho as a headliner in WCW & apparently Vince McMahon doesn’t either in WWE. Bischoff & Hulk Hogan were discussing WWE wrestlers they would like to work with and Jericho’s name came up. Bischoff said he likes Jericho’s work, but they didn’t see him as a “main event level guy” in WCW. Bischoff followed with his soundbyte on McMahon not seeing Jericho as a main event level guy either based on WWE only giving Jericho two very brief World Title reigns in September & November 2008.
CM Punk said during a ESPN interview on 29th March 2012, on his recent comments about Chris Jericho never being 'The Man' despite being a World champion: "There's always, I think, somebody that has overshadowed him. I guess an argument can be made that John Cena is still 'The Man.' But the numbers don't lie with merchandising, ratings & everything else. We're not trying to hotshot the title around or play hot potato with it. We're giving people a champion they can believe in. Jericho was never really that guy. He was never really, I guess, the ambassador John Cena has been. That's what I meant by that."
