>For those wondering, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H did get in a good amount of ring time at last night's Madison Square Garden live event as he and Sheamus lost to Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. It was also noted that Triple H got the biggest pop of the night with all cheers. At one point he hit a Pedigree on Reigns, which also got a big pop.
based shovelman haitch has also generally been cheered since he beat the shit out of Roman, and even managed to split a MONTREAL crowd 50/50 in favor of him against Ambrose.
How fucked is Roman?
>>1104768
Super fucked. If he just goes over clean with no swerves and shit he's gonna be boo'd. Really up to WWE how they handle this now. Theres not enough time to make him a face that people like enough to be cheered in the main event at mania.
>>1104768
He's fine. He's still going to go over and make lots of money.
>>1104768
We are in a different era. Everyone is smart to the product so on screen kayfabe heel stuff isn't going to necessarily get you booed.
Crowds are more interested in real life crossover implications and most know that Reigns is being forced on them. HHH dong ambushes on Reigns and calling the crowds losers isn't going to suddently endear anyone to Reigns. You would think they would know this by now. This shit used to work like gangbusters but not anymore.
So tell me /asp/, why should I be learning any of your "modern" martial arts when I can learn ancient arts (read: tested throughout the centuries) that allow me to literally blow assailants away from a distance?

https://youtu.be/WhnvETs4F6Q
I can't stand how the media paints physical combat off as "modern" and effective, throws that shit on TV in "competitive" setting (UFC kek) in order to boost gym membership sales worldwide. The answer has been around for much longer than the concept of commercial gyms.
>>1104663
I thought that was a Borat style comedy movie but no, this is actually a documentary. I don't know how to feel.
>>1104663
>So tell me /asp/, why should I be learning any of your "modern" martial arts when I can learn ancient arts (read: tested throughout the centuries) that allow me to literally blow assailants away from a distance?
You shouldn't. Obviously you're good to go.
So when are you going to demonstrate on some criminals?
Well, if you really want to know why the ufc and mma have evolved into the way they look today, go back and watch those first ufc events. Those traditional martial arts turned out to be almost entirely ineffective against grappling. Most karate, tkd, and kung fu schools are just bullshit where you pay for your advancement. If you really want to get into something effective, learn to box, kickbox, or learn bjj. Really, you should be learning to defend yourself standing and on the ground.
Roman Reigns will be a 3x heavyweight champion in 8 days
Good
>>1104601
And he will then lose it again before his combined three reigns hits 50 days.

>it's an obese smark making a thread about a wrestler they don't like winning a fake belt.
Post some classics

I'm sure there's a lot of this footage that has been lost to time but let's see what we can rustle up
Robinson v destroyer is my fav matchup ever quite possibly but I only seen two of their matches. Don't think they actually had many though, recorded ones at least. Fucking five stars anyway.
Only know of one place to watch them but apparently it's poor form to discuss it due to hosting issues so...
>>1104140
i'll have to check it out, thanks for the recc
>>1104126
Yeah because I really want to watch wrestling from when it was even shitter than today.
I'm having a little trouble switching from kick boxing to MMA. The grappling I'm practiced in is illegal in most amateur and even professional leagues since the grand master only taught me grappling for self defense in emergency situations, that is outside of clench and throw from the clench. I'm OK it the clench, but my real strength my ability to go from a traveling punch with my right to a nasty roundhouse kick to the kidneys or back with my left in one smooth motion. My legs are ambidextrous. Unfortunately I'm told that outside of Kyuk Too Ki and Savate a kick that wraps around to the back is illegal. Is there a way to knock the person back more with the punch without sacrificing power from the rotation? So I can assure that the leg strike lands legal? So far I've just been told that they've never seen someone do that before. But then the city I now live in is hardly an mma hub. The lack of leagues here is one of the reasons I'm switching. The other reason is that I'm getting older and my ankle isn't what it used to be. MMA fights are shorter. If you are knocked down from a blow to the head there isn't even a count. That certainly makes for a faster fight. As far as my ground game goes I'm working on learning legal moves like the crucifix and arm bars that don't involve twisting the wrist or pushing with my legs to pull the arm out of the joint.
I'm 36 so this is all teaching an old dog new tricks. I can't just abandon everything, a lot of the combos are automatic at this point. It's hard to change your flow.
First of all, literally none of this ever happened.
But also, if you're 36, it's time to start thinking about finding a nice dark cave to crawl into and die, not about starting a new contact sport.
What happens when you get kicked in the colostomy bag or you slip a disc or shatter your hip?
Your kids and grandkids will have to look after you and that isn't fair to them.

You're trained in an actual practical martial art? Just keep it up. Fuck impractical, fake martial arts that people only like because of TV. Practicality > Sport

Yet another one bites the dust. Now Miz is fucked as well. Could be a possible break. Has there ever been an injury crisis like this in modern wrestling history? Not that I can remember in 22 years as a fan.

When will the "Russo is bad" meme die?
He single-handedly booked the greatest two years in WWE history (only 2000 under Kreski comes close). His time at WCW was a great improvement over the shit they had been putting out but he was working with an inferior roster, an inferior character web, and a shit load of issues with egos. TNA was always a disaster and he did the best he could.
If you really think McMahon was the key to the Attitude era success, you're ignorant. If you really think Russo was writing eight hours of ideas a week and Vinny Mac was just picking out the two hours that worked and abandoning 75% that was shit, you have no idea how long writing takes. There would have been very limited scope for bad ideas that didn't surface on TV when producing two (and eventually four) hours a week. It was all him.

Russo pls
Hi Russo
I think Russo isn't a bad story teller, but Cornette said it best, once the bell rings, Russo is lost.

He'll be pushed when the current top guys move up
He got a match against Balor afterwards, just not for the belt
LITERALLY FUCKING WHO?
Trish once said in a magazine interview that Stephanie ribbed her at No Way Out 2001.
Steph was supposed to only "play spank" Trish. But during the match, Steph actually laid the smacks in and spanked Trish hard.
Here's a GIF of when it happened. Can you tell if the spanks are real or not? Does it look like she's really spanking her? Or was Trish only joking?
Also, Divas thread.
>This is the type of shit Trish Stratus has to complain about
>This is as stiff as her ring work got
>This is as mean spirited as her "ribbings" got
She had the easiest career of anyone in history and she was still the worst wrestler ever.
>>1096352
She isn't even the worst blonde that Vince has pushed because they gave him a boner.
>>1096340
The don't look overly worked but even if they where real its not gonna hurt that much. If she's moving like that I doubt even a full on spank would warrant complaining.
Now that the dust has settled what is the official /asp/ consensus on Eddie Guerrero? How was he as a wrestler and at the mic? Did you cry during his memorial like half the roster and crowd did?

http://strawpoll.me/7151190
His character and ringwork were pretty spectacular but I've heard that he was actually a prick off kayfabe.
What can you expect from them Mohicans
He was awesome and I remember marking out for him a lot when I saw him perform live 2 weeks before his death. Then again I've liked Eddie Guerrero since 2001 when I started watching wrestling.
>>1096226
>I will never see him perform live
Feels horrible.
