Here's the thing, If Gall loses his career is fucking finished. He can never recover from something like this, losing to a 37yr old never fought before pro-wrestler. The kid is done.

If Punk wins, UFC's reputation could be tainted. Punk doesn't gain much in this case either.

However, if Punk loses the fight and takes the defeat like a man, he earns the respect of the MMA world and the UFC fanbase. The tag on him for being a pro-wrestler who was brought in solely for his popularity in WWE, would be gone for good. Punk can then work hard and come back for another fight where he may win, setting everything right in the world.

Therefore, Punk losing is the most optimal and reasonable outcome of the event.
