Being that the British are big fans of wrestling, why are there no relevant British wrestling promotions? How come Japan and Mexico have more storied histories of wrestling than the UK?

wrestling was and is a very niche market in the UK, moreso than the US or Japan. Thing is it never really grew out of that to experience that 80s/90s boom.
As a result many promotions that exist in britain now are local and will not break out into the international wrestling scene in the same way. Why? Because the promotions that exist will not merge or be bought out the same way Vince did it. As well as that, much of the wrestling talent in the UK try and make it big in Japan, US etc, so why bother?

Anybody ever work a show, not necessarily as talent but maybe support staff - security, wardrobe, whatever.
A buddy of mine worked for a catering company that once handled a RAW in our city about a year ago, he's not really a big wrestling fan but he said backstage was a very strange atmosphere. He said it's weird to see how all these guys that are larger than life on stage are just regular people doing their job.

I was working security at our arena for a WWE show about 5 years ago and I was shocked how small (almost) everyone was. I hadn't watched wrestling since I was a kid and I imagined everyone to be 6'8" tall and ripped. Almost everyone was normal sized and didn't even look roidstrong.

A friend once helped an an arena in Chicago for a PPV
He said most of the backstage staff were professional, if not hectically hurried all the time.
He got to see Cena from afar. Apparently Cena is really buff in person, a lot more than he looks on TV.
This was back in like 2009 though
