anyone here own a greyhound? I just moved into a place that allows pets and I've been thinking about adopting an ex racing greyhound. I've never owned a dog before but I've heard they are pretty easygoing. any advice/opinions/stories would be appreciated.
pic related, it's the boy I'm looking at

I recommend using this site for good info on them

Not really suggested since they display pitbulls at "very friendly" "kid friendly"

Maybe you should get something smaller as a beginner

Pits are dog aggressive, not human aggressive.
>>
>>2310656
is it just a size issue or are they difficult to train?
>>
>>2310675
Because of they're high prey drive they will try to sprint after stuff, add that to their size and it can make them difficult to walk, they might also bite at smaller dogs

What this anon said >>2310678
>>2310659
Explain the high bite rate
>>
>>2310678
my state requires muzzling when out in public... hadn't really thought about the prey drive stuff beyond never letting it off the leash in an unfenced area. I heard they are not aggressive
>>
>>2310685
They arent aggressive to people, just things they could perceive as prey like rabbits/squirrels/stray cats and the like
>>
>>2310686
And small children.
>>
>>2310686
>>2310734
As long as nothing smaller than it runs around it, it should be fine
>>
I hear that despite their size, greyhounds are great apartment dogs, since they sleep like 18 hours a day.
>>
My aunt and uncle adopt retired racing greyhounds a lot, they seem to like them. They get kind of chubby and lazy, but do need room to get out and sprint for a bit every day. They probably don't interact with them enough, because their yard is full of holes the dog dug, but it may just be that individual dog being slightly neurotic or really hating moles or something.

>any small dogs are easier to manage than a likely senior greyhound
Are you out of your fucking mind?
