For what it is - a battle crop - it's actually very well done. I usually see them with sharp edges, like someone cut at an angle from one side and then another angle from the opposite side, making a lopsided triangle. Or it's done too short, almost like they wanted to cut the entire ear off the head. But I agree, I hate all crops but I think I hate battle crops the most.

We used to get a big male dog that looked like that at the shelter. His owner just never fixed the fence and would lose the dog every Sunday and we'd have to return him every week. He used the dog as a stud, called him Money Maker. Owner said his pups would easily go for $600 and up to $800. No breed, no papers, no vaccines. He'd always get worried that we fixed him. One time he didn't pick his dog up on time and we did fix him. He threatened to sue, and didn't take his dog back because he was 'useless'.

A well-bred pit, with its ears uncropped and its chest not a sad clump of deformed bone with squat legs, is quite a sight. I love brindle, blue-nose, and fawn/tan colored ones. These in particular remind me of lions or wild dogs, very cool-looking.

I've read that purebred APBTs don't actually come in 'blue' (dilute grey), and that they need to be mixed with other breeds to get that color. And there technically isn't a 'blue nosed' dog, although there is a line called Old Family Red Nose, hence red nose. But that is a line, not referring to a color

But who knows, there is so much conflicting information about pits.
