This is a wasp, I know. The USGS operates a bee survey program, I think they call it BIML (bee inventory and monitoring lab?) where they use a sweet camera rig that stitches super close up images into a coherent, painfully high resolution whole like this one. They've got a photostream full of pictures of bees, wasps, and other little things on Flickr. I use it for desktop backgrounds because I'm a faggot who loves wasps so goddamn much I need them in high resolution.
