Its been about a week since my last post regarding the queen ant I picked up. Decided to post some pics in case there was continuing interest in her development.
I hope the gaster cleaning is a good sign.
Thats all for now, feel free to give feedback or advice as usual. Will continue to post as updates come in.
>unemployed queen ant
this world gets sadder each day
What did you name her?

Her name is Beatrice, not really sure why, it felt regal enough though. I appreciate you asking.

Bump for ants.

I hope this is true, I've been very worried she may not have been fertilized
>>2287584
I shall, as long as there is something new to show. I'm glad there are people interested in her.

How long is she going to keep us waiting?
>>2288088
Oh, hopefully not a whole lot longer, but I am honestly not sure. Originally I posted that I had found her about two months ago, and apparently this is likely her hibernation time. Or at least time of less activity. Im hoping for eggs soon though, and will post pics when there are new developments.

How long does it usually take for the eggs to be hatched? I know next to nothing about ants and how to care for them but this is pretty interesting.
I'm interested in seeing if there is a planned enclosure for the queen and her impending colony, and if so what it looks like and the process involved in that.

Actually I'm not really sure, I know it can take months for her to lay, and some time after that for the eggs to hatch. This is my first attempt at this so I'm learning with the rest of you.

Actually, I have procrastinated pretty hard on that. I do not have an enclosure or anything ready for a new colony, I'm still not even sure if she will lay. That is kind of the reason I haven't gotten the rest prepared. If and when she lays eggs I will get right on getting something ready for the new family. I've basically learned all I know from AntsCanada, and their YouTube videos.

AntsCanada is pretty cool, I had such a hard time watching the fire ants vid though. Fire ants are a fucking scourge where I live and everybody has childhood ant trauma. I guess if you're from Canada you don't mind them so much.
