Hes a cat, and hes black. Sometimes i trip over him in the dark

I have never owned a black cat but i did work in animal shelter for a while. The hair thing is silly. If your cat is anything other than the same colour as your furniture you will see the shed hair easily. So vacuum your goddamn furniture.

Anyway, superstition is a factor with black cats in that you can very easily find several at any animal shelter. They get adopted out less frequently than the other cats because people are dumb like that.

the cat i spent my first 8 years of life with was a black cat that my parents adopted after it was found roaming the streets of Kailua. every night, Boo would curl up next to me until i fell asleep, then report back to my parents bedroom. if i had a fever, Boo would wake my parents up to let them know i needed to be checked on. sure enough, they'd take my temperature and id have a fever. Boo's sensitivity and empathy allowed my parents to have a slightly less stressful job as parents because he knew when i was ill, knew how to calm me down, and cared genuinely for our family.

It would depend on the agency. There are a lot of urban legends about cult groups sacrificing cats as a Halloween tradition. Afaik it's bunk, but if the agency believes it they may stop adoptions or enforce stricter rules for black cats.

My parents' 14 year old cat is dying. He throws up everyday, despite trying to change his diet to something thats softer on his stomach. Vet says he ha kidney disease and could go into renal failure any time now.

Kinda sad, but my parents are waiting until after the holidays before they take him to be euthanized.

Remember to always stay with your pets btw when theyre being put down. They get very distressed at the end otherwise.

Yeah, he is the best. He's a little grumpy right now though. I'm a big baby and was crying at a show I was watching so he got in my lap to snuggle me. He isn't too happy about getting wet from tears but he won't leave me either. You can't help but anthropomorphize him a bit

I honestly hate the genera human bred types. My cats have all pretty much been foundlings.

I was about to type out the story of how I got all my cats, but then I remembered my first cat Shelby..... I fucking miss her and wish I had been a better kid to her. At the end I was like just starting puberty so I was grumpy a lot and didnt give her the pettings she deserved. She was a good cat, she would snuggle up in bed with me and my mom when my mom read me stories before bed, then she would go and prowl around the closets and under the bed to check for monsters.

We never found her body, holy shit anons I miss my Shelby and I can't believe I am crying as a grown ass man over a fucking cat. Goddamnit I don't have a single childhood memory before her, and the worst part is I don't think I have any pictures of her, atleast not that I could find. Fuck, talk about a change in tone in this post.

I looked for her for over a year after she dissappeared, and she had fleas really bad before she died, I tried to give her a flea bath but it didnt help. Okay, I am gonna go and cry for a bit and drink myself numb. Why fuck did I have to remember all this.

Almost all the things that detract from cat ownership can be solved with daily upkeep. It's a chore, but if your you're up on your game, it's easy and frankly quite rewarding

I have a gray cat, pic related (purebred Russian blue). He sheds lightly, but I comb his hair with a brush every day to get excess fur off of him. I haven't noticed much fur on me, in fact I had much more dog hair on me back in high school when I lived with the family dog. I also keep air purifiers (link related: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FBMJK9Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hbHyyb2TW26D9) in all corners of my apartment, and I have window venting fans that I turn on daily. These actions get rid of much (but obviously not all) of the dander and smell associated with cats. My father (who has the world's most sensitive nose) came to my apartment today and noticed how he assumed there would be a strong cat odor, but was surprised to smell nothing.

Cat waste is another problem, but again solvable to a degree by constant vigilance. I scoop and sift for droppings on an hourly basis. Basically every time I'm home I'm on the look out for fresh piss and shit. I then bag them in the dog dropping bags. Afterwards, I turn to the wall mounted hand sanitizer to protect against germs. And finally, I have trained my cat to accept bathes. He dislikes it completely, but he understand that it's bath time on a weekly basis.

It's not hard to keep your life and cat clean if you're willing to not be lazy, and to also be ready to drop a decent amount of coin when you need something. Don't skimp, buy the good litter, the good trash bags with febreeze lining, the good hair brush. I only spend about 80 bucks a month for cat food/supplies a month, which isn't that much to a well off cleanly Asian.

I have two. One is a little autistic from a bad shot reaction. Looks really goofy in the face, meows weird, doesn't like her paws touched to the point of flinching, etc. Also she weighs like 10 pounds soaking wet and looks like a kitten. The other one is a high test literal Tom who got pretty big and bulky, isn't overweight according to the vet. Can still walk across those super thin fences somehow. Overall, they're cats.
