I'm thinking I fill up a Petri dish with some puddle or pond water and as long as there steady supply of sun light and detritus I could keep microorganisms like Copepoda,water fleas,Rotifera and nematodes.dontou guys think it could work

I'd recommend something bigger for best results. A big jar in an area with enough sunlight to grow algae but not cook everything, and a few scoops of pond mud would would really well.

I'd love some way to keep a colony of bioluminescent dinoflagellates (the stuff that lights up the ocean waves blue), but I doubt it's doable
