Idk if this is the right place to post this, but I just got the random urge to get into gardening (or some sort of plant-related learning activity) as a side hobby - way better than owning a pet. Pets will abandon you and get hit by cars. Plants? Plants are friends forever.

Anyways I know jack shit about plants and also live in an apartment in the middle of a city several stories up. How can someone like me get into small-time casual gardening?

Eh.
>food
Put onion bulb on a water jar, so it's not soaked, only root part is, add water every day, change water frequently, harvest leek.
>fun
buy a goldfish bowl, don't harass goldfishes with the tiny fucking bowl, but plant some cute water moss instead.

OP here, a couple more questions:
- what plant has the best personality?
- what is the cutest plant?
- what is the best plant for cuddling?
- any Japanese plants that represent superior Japanese culture?

>what plant has the best personality?
"Monkey-no-climb" trees have fallen to stop twelve different robberies in recorded history - more than all other trees combined. I think the repeated, intentional self-sacrifice for the greater good indicates an excellent personality.

>what is the cutest plant?
Might just be me but I'm partial to the "monkey-no-climb" tree. The leaves are light pink and the fruit looks like cutesy little beady eyes. The fruit pulp is also known to make your skin infant soft.

>what is the best plant for cuddling?
There's this plant called a "sandbox" or "monkey-no-climb" tree that is known for its soft, fuzzy bark. Its toxic wood keeps ants from burrowing inside too, so you wouldn't have to worry about getting bugs on your clothes.

>any Japanese plants that represent superior Japanese culture?
I know I'm using this one a lot now but I'd suggest the monkey-no-climb tree as it is very common in the vast Japanese deserts. In fact, many Japanese tribes worship them as a god.

You can buy seeds of this tree online, but I suggest you leave the details as a personal surprise - just buy a sprout and plant it in well-draining, sandy soil. They make excellent gifts.

I hope this helps!
