So I have a 4 months old German Shepherd and I bring her to daycare every week day from 7:00am to 5:30pm

Is it bad for her?
For are relationship?
Will she start thinking the daycare lady and the dogs there are her family?

Thanks!

It's great that she's getting that socialization! Daycare is wonderful for puppies.

As long as you take good care of her at home, she'll know you're her human. Clicker training will strengthen your bond with her too.

Thanks!

I can't let her in a cage for that long and work in construction is dangerous and she's not allowed anyway.

Should I let the women there feed her? Or do I feed her in the mornig and when I come back?

Sorry to Jack post but can we get a thread on this. I really want to take in a new one but would want to get a puppy. As I work similar hours 3 days a week, and get a lot of days off I've considered this approach for the first stage of her life. Assuming you had the income to do this safely and still sort a heck load of time with your pupper whilst he isn't at day care, would that be sustainable until he is able to handle more alone time?

Keep in mind when he's older he will ensure camping monthly with me , hiking weekly with me walking/running almost daily with me?

think he meant: why would a person who hasn't educated themselves before getting a dog own a dog?

I think it would be fine, but why not continue it for the rest of the dog's active life? It keeps the dog well socialized and active when you can't. That way he won't grow to be a fat ass couch potato and will be able to handle the hiking and running on your days off. Don't think a day care replaces dog training, though. You still have to socialize and train your dog on your own time. And dogs under 4 months shouldn't be brought to a day care because vaccines and a lot of dogs. Your dog will also need a bordetella shot every 6 months to help prevent kennel cough (it's required in dog kennel/boarding). I would suggest an older puppy, 4 months at the youngest, because a puppy shouldn't be left alone for 10+ hours.

Hey OP, I work at a part time daycare, We've got a few dogs that come in every day, and they're always shitting themselves when it's time to go home they're so excited to see their owner again.

It's very good socialising time, and she may get excited when you drive her over, because she knows she's gonna see her buddies, but you needn't worry about her drifting apart from you or anything. As long as you still spend time with her and give her lottsa love, you'll be fine.

Pic related, it's our daily dog crew. They like hanging out.

Educated? The guy made the smart and responsible move to take the puppy to day care because he knew leaving at home by itself would be detrimental. Now he's simply asking an innocent question that's concerning him. What more do you want from him you shitdick.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to get something 1 years + but the 6 month above period seems like I could train him better and more strictly whilst he is young and a sponge. Thanks for the advice
