Is my standard poodle a meme dog? People seem to have a predisposed idea about them that they're uptight and frilly dogs but they actually love to get dirty and are smart/ friendly as hell.

A meme dog is a breed that has no real merit that justifies its popularity other than how trendy and popular it is.
Labs and golden retrievers aren't meme dogs, because they're popular for a reason and always have been. They're clever, calm, easy to train and good with families.

Shibas, pugs, dalmatians and the like are only popular because they look 'unique and cool', but are all actually difficult dogs to own, which is the reason they aren't common. And why they all end up getting dumped.

My pomeranian puppy is just getting his adult coat in. Every time I walk him at least one person asks me if he's a pomsky. Is that even a real thing? When I googled the name all I got were husky pups and klee kais.

Okay, first I'd like to apologize. I re-checked the AKC website and noticed that creams are in fact considered as a registered colour.
The reason I thought there weren't was because I was reading the PDF which seems to be dated.
"Coat color is as specified herein, with the three allowed colors given equal consideration.
All colors are clear and intense." and all the PDF says about cream/white, are the marks where the white is allowed on all THREE coat colours. But the AKC website has the cream colour added in another section that's more updated. ugh.

I'm just glad my precious acd is free of this bullshit. They're very unique and the non fat/stocky ones are the cutest. My boy Silas is unbelievably adorable and fun. I lift weights and often have a hard time finding a dog that'll keep up with my grip strength when it comes to tug of war. Silas don't give a shit. He wants to be dragged around and flung through the air. He'll do all kinds of tricks just for that reward. Great for long 5 mile walks as well. Great animals if you have the time and energy.

My "harlequin" border collie with blue merle spots, heterochromia and a permanently gimped front leg might count as a meme dog. She's a sensitive flower and can't take too much training before she limps away. She'd sleep all day if she could.

Well I got the puppy from a friend, I didn't get him from a shelter. The two dogs never met in a neutral territory, the puppy is two months old and seems sad that it was taken away from it's family so it tries to get the attention of my older dog.

I think I read about half of the animals brought to US shelters get homes, meaning the other half dies. Basically your animal is competing against every other animal to be the best pet. Here in Mexico the meme dog is the yellow lab thanks to a toilet paper brand named petalo.

At the beginning of 2000's the brand re-designed their image and used a lab named "puppy" which is a pun for "popi" that is a cutesy way to say "poop" they advertised with dog plushies and it was fucking everywhere.
Soon every kid wanted a real "puppy" and now we are filled with yellow labs, most of them were abandoned of neglected after people realized how big they grew.

Pretty sad to see shelters full of Pure-breed Labs and Lab mixes.

Our dogs most definitely aren't from local breeders, we ship them out from farms in the midwest. Large scale breeders for sure, but honestly the managers go there all the time and the conditions are pretty good. They have big runs and stuff to exercise in and they're very clean. Most of the pictures you see online are from the 90's.
That said, we do occasionally accept puppies that people drop off.
