Any one else have porcupines?

No, but I researched them as pets for curiosity. It seems like some sort of sick, cruel joke that they are actually very cuddly and playful. Maybe african ones aren't so bad but I believe north american ones have more barbed quills that hold better than african ones.

They love to snuggle and play. They are like the metal version of a dog! The Africans have smooth quills they use to make a rattling noise and look big, but they have been known to kill lions with poking an artery.
>>
I'd assume the biggest problem would be gnawing the shit out of your house.
>>

This. Porcupines will chew the fucking shit out of anything wood.

Is that your video? Can you actually keep crested porcupines in a house like that? I would have assumed they'd have been too destructive.
>>
>>1998357
Yes it is my video. I have an outdoor enclosure for when I'm not home or sleeping. They are like a dog in that they need to be trained properly and need to learn what they can chew on and where to go to the bathroom.

Well shit, can't say I expected to see anyone here with cresteds. Did you just get them recently or have you had them before? Any recommended breeder you used? I've seen them around for sale but it'd be nice to know of someone who actually is selling them as proper pets.

Oh my god that's so fucking cute.

The two in the videos and pictures I got last week. I have a few adults too but they are parent raised and are still a little skiddish. All of mine have come from different privatly owned zoos.

How do porcupines fuck

Isn't it logical? They can afford to be confident and playful because of their good defenses.
>>
>>2000170
I don't think it works that way.

Maybe they're so chill because they're rodents. Larger rodents seem to be chill things. Capybaras, porcupines, maras.. Now I wonder what a pet beaver is like since they're the 2nd largest rodent.

doggy style. female hunches over, lays her quills down and lifts her tail, male stands on hind legs and delicately shuffles close enough to put benis in bagina.

As someone who has worked with Hystrix and Coendou for the past 10 years i can honestly tell you there's no other animal out there who will fuck your shit up faster than a porcupine.
They are terrified of everything & incredibly destructive. We had a pair of S African Cresteds who chewed clean through rebar.
Have fun with that.

>We had a pair of S African Cresteds who chewed clean through rebar.
Holy shit lol.
>>
>>2002541
If yours are afraid of everything and ave overly destructive sounds like you have an issue with raising them. If yours also chewed threw rebar you have some serious issues with husbandry and enrichment.
>>
>>2004565
Chewing is just a thing any species of porcupine is obsessed with. It's not about them being bored. They chew absolutely everything because the fucking love chewing.
>>
>>2004594
If given the proper things to chew on they shouldn't chew threw rebar.

Cool man.
