Hey I need some help with my new aquarium. I got some rocks from a friend to go in it and they were apparently dirty. Now the water is brown and I've had a filter going all night to no avail. Any way to get it clean fairly quickly?

You need to do water changes sadly. Thiis happened to me with decorative sand.

Why do you even own an aquarium if you're not going to rinse the substrate first lmao

What are some good channels that discuss and explain biology, animals and palaeontology?

I kinda like Trey the explainer, sometimes.

I like these for actual biology/paleontology. Most others are meme shit.

Have any of you gotten a second dog as a sibling to your first one? How was it?

Since we moved, I've been spending a lot of time with my dog while I look for a job. Once I find one, our dog is going to be alone for most of the day. We'll figure something out like a dog walker, daycare, coming home for lunch, etc. But when we move out of our apartment into a house in the future, I think my dog would be happier with a playmate during the day. We'd probably get a dog of similar size/weight/age.

I'm not sure if I could love a second dog like my first. I'm sure I would take care of it just fine, feed it good food, and provide it with lots of exercise and fun times, but I just don't know if I'm okay with adding a new pet to our family dynamic. We spoil the shit out of our boy. Would probably kill someone for him. Do I have enough love to give? I'm not asking about how to have a second dog come into our home (introductions, feeding times, whatever), I'm more asking about the emotional aspect. Would my first dog feel less loved with the addition of a second? Would I regret getting a second dog and having to divvy up my attention between two?

Has anyone dealt with this? Pic is our boy on a road trip

i wanted to keep common european toad in a terrarium so i took one toadlet into translucent box and i put 4 smallest mealworms i could find and the toadlet was doing nothing else but trying to climb the box to escape
how to feed them? in the past i managed to feed adult grass frog with earthworms but i cannot into feeding small toads

>>
Consult care sheets for the species in question and adjust heating, lighting, substrate, and decor as required.
>>
>>2439810
but shouldn't it eat the mealworms?
>>
>>2439935

It likely will not eat if the environmental conditions in the enclosure are incompatible with its requirements.

Honestly put toad back outside, do your research, put together an appropriate setup, then obtain toad.

can i feed them so that they will come to my garden so that i could take photos of them? martens are very cool imo

Why feed something that already has a good food source.
May lure some rats and mice in your garden.

Pretty cool

Actually looks like a Leopard or Green Frog. Bullfrogs don't have those ridges running down behind their backs. But yeah, just looks like a weird color mutation.

Let's discuss Golden Geckos?

Looks cool, But I'm not really into reptiles. My friend had one though and I guess you really shouldn't overfeed them

Hey, I currently got a Dragon Scale Betta fish and I have him in a 10 gallon tank with a few Golden Molly Panda's I have 2 large plants and one medium plant from petco. I also have the Whisper 2 10 filter but it seems to have a bit too much current so I am looking at getting some sponges to lessen the current they will arrive in 2 days. I also do have a heater. I am just trying to find some more ways to make life for my fish more enjoyable! Anyone have any suggestions? Other tank mates or other plants/tank accessories.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have pretty much the same setup. It has evolved into this. I used the sponge on the whisper for awhile but found if I sort of block the current with some sort of decoration it works too. I had a few guppies with mine but he killed them all. Got some Cory catfish now and he sleeps and plays with them lol. Same fish 2+ years. The stuff I have floating around is java moss it will grow in any conditions and the Betta love it. If you can get some cherry red shrimp for cheap try adding them. I bought some for VERY cheap on eBay and got a bunch of "pregnant" ones but had a parasitic worm outbreak in tank that may have came from them that was tedious to treat, so be wary when adding anything (fish, plants, and invertebrates) to the thank. Your set up looks great maybe give him something to swim in and out of.
>>
Thanks! Yeah I just was out and about and picked him up a log with a few holes in it. No sharp edges or anything. I will have to look for some java moss! I want a lot of plants in my tank but I am not sure how well it will work. My tank is not near a window and I am not too sure how the live plants grow that well without much sunlight. I have a bit more research to do about the plants.
>>
>>2439508
I had some java moss and it kept wrapping itself around my rooted plants and pulled them out. I finally ended up getting rid of it.

Currently have a betta in a 20 g tank with 6 neon tetras. Betta killed two of the tetras in the first week but i think it's because they were sick. They had stopped schooling before the beta went after them. Seems to get along with others for the time being. Betta is funny though, if i dip my finger in the tanks he will rush toward me like a barracuda and puff his fins. Name is Barron von Bully

When my cat came indoors this evening I noticed a faint brownish colour on her cheek, i thought it was dust but it was more red until I then noticed her ear was cut quite deeply. I cleaned the wound with cotton wool and warm saline solution. I was very gentle and let her be for a while. I noticed when checking on her that a segment of her ear has split, at the edge of where the cut is. She was restless when I tried cleaning the wound and has not been meowing at all, she is a little withdrawn which I take as her being in pain.

Aside from carrying on cleaning the wound gently and keeping her indoors for the time being, is there anything else I should do? I was questioning taking her to the vet but I will not be able to make it tomorrow.

Picture is the cut from the front, a picture of the back would display it better but i didnt want to post something a little more graphic.

Any help is appreciated!!!!
