How can I humanely euthanize a hermit crab without making it suffer? Would putting it in a freezer be the way to go?
>>2069985
slow boil
>>133123653
I'm not sure about inverts, but isn't being frozen a horrible death? I remember reading something about that for fish.
Crush it quickly.
I'd suggest stepping on it but the shell would probably make that difficult.
>>2069985
Gas it or sledgehammer.
Does the leaf in this pic come from a real plant?
If so, what plant is it and can I grow it in Oklahoma?
So apparently it's a Taro plant.
I dont know what kind though.

Why is he walking down the road like that
Does shit like pic related and other painted or dyed plants and animals (like the dyed fish) piss others off, or am I just being autistic?
Why are painted cacti so common in shit stores?
It's not even decent quality paint or done very well, then the really obvious glued on flowers. I dislike these things but I still giggle at them every time I pass by.

Okay /an/imals, got a question for you:
Can dogs be racist? I have a three year-old white siberian husky, that, to put it mildy, is very aggressive towards dark-skinned individuals, especially men. She is as sweet as can be around other people, but will growl and lash out whenever an African American person is around. We had a plumber over yesterday and I had to keep her on a lead to stop her from biting his leg off.
Can dogs naturally be racist? Is it learned behavior from their masters? Full disclosure: we had a break-in last July, they stole a number of electronics and jewelry. Ever since my daughter (who was home alone with the dog) is also afraid of African American men.
What should I do?
You have a smart dog thats looking out for its family.
>>2069070
Yes, my dog is also very racist towards people with black skin.
>>2069070
yes.
I am zoo owner and my Jewish head veterinarian seems to think so. Is this against animal cruelty laws? Is this a good idea or am I being sold a lie?
no, they can hardly be kept with their own kind.
>>2069051
Then why has my Jewish veterinarian told me this. He is an expert he must be right.
What does the law say on keeping different species together.could I be punished for doing this.
My roommate has a 1.5 gallon aquarium and I'm trying to help her find something that can go in it. I have suggested a live plant and maybe two snails? What else can live in such a small space? Freshwater preferred.
Probably ok for a betta if it has a heater.
Or a couple guppies.
>>2068121
Shrimp would be nice. Especially if there's a live plant in it.
>>2068121
Animals:
>shrimp (all different colors red/blue/green/yellow/white/transparent/polka dotted/stripes etc. etc. etc)
>snails (check out bumblebee snails)
>african dwarf frogs
>crayfish (only get one, and make sure it's a species that doesn't grow too large for the tank)
>white cloud mountain minnows
>golden white cloud mountain minnows
Plants:
>lucky bamboo (the stem and roots stay in the water, but the leaves MUST be in open air)
>anubias
>java fern
>java moss
>marimo moss balls
>elephants ear (same as lucky bamboo)
Hope this points you in the right direction, I strongly recommend you google how to properly cycle a tank before you do anything though, otherwise whatever you put in there will die due to ammonia poisoning before the beneficial bacteria can establish itself.
So my friends are being stupid pieces of shit right now
So my brother dropped off a snail and put it in a styrofoam cup and left it outside to freeze
So now I'm this snails parental guardian so the first thing I did was make a dope ass styrofoam base for it made of like three cups
All it does is shit in one corner then sleep in the farthest side
it doesnt even eat the shit I give it
I told my supposed friends about this and they laughed when I said I was feeding him apple slices cut really small and now they're being really stupid saying that I dont know how to care for my snail but they're fucking retarded
What do these things even eat help me disprove my stupid friends and let Christian Snail live /an/

is his name supposed to be a joke about christian bale?

>buy my pitbull and indestructible toy
>she destroys it

weclome too da clubb
>>2066389
Go with Kong and JW brand toys. We have a Cane Corso Mastiff and a Rottweiler/Pit mix and it takes them a LONG ass time to destroy the stuff we give them.
chewy dot com is a pretty good place to get em.
>>2066389
These may not be indestructible, but they come pretty close.
How do I get deer to approach me? There are trillions that hang out near a castle I guard and I want to see them closer. I tried not yelling at them and gave some berries I brought but they are more skittish than most creatures.
Install Gentoo and it'll approach you
>>2066345
Build a dome you can hide in that looks like a bush and spray deer piss over yourself.
Remember the cat that had boiling water poured on him? Here he is.

Fuck the bastard who did this.
Keep cats inside.

Did you even read?
The cat was inside and a nigger poured scalding water on him.
Can we discuss the current state of BBC Natural History Wildlife Documentaries?
What's good? What's not? Your favorites? Has the quality declined in your opinion?

Watching Life Story 2014 currently, and its pretty great. All about the life span of animals, from birth through to death.
>>2057638
Watched the blu rays of Planet Earth the other week. No exaggeration, I was almost moved to tears at some of the scenes. Absolutely amazing program.
I love all attenborough documentaries. I honestly can't think of who could inspire me or others in such a way once he is unable to continue narration, though I think Benedict Cumberbatch did a good job on a couple of documentaries.
>>2057647
agreed. i read a while ago that brian cox is being suggested as a front runner. He is so boring and dry and wet
Post dog-related posts here.

So I want to get another dog, I am just not sure what. I currently have a lemon beagle, and she is great but a little tiny. I live a very active lifestyle so I need something that can do weekly hiking trips, and almost daily trips to the dog park. The main thing I'm looking for is size, I want something bigger, and protectiveness. I live in not the nicest area and I want something that will make my girlfriend feel safe without me there and something that will also be protective of her and the other dog if needed. My beagle sometimes gets picked on at the dog park because of all the pit bulls in my area so I need something to let the other dogs know she isn't alone as well.
>pic related, my awesome pup
>>2066016
Also, the dog in no way has to appear menacing. I have nothing or against that. I live in Phoenix so I would prefer it to have a shorter coat.
Is a dog bed 100% necessary?
Pic related is from a local Chinese restaurant in my town. It's filled with coins, and I do not understand why people think that it's okay to throw metal (especially containing any amount of copper) is okay to throw in ponds and tanks. There's even a sign that says to not throw coins.
What other things do humans do that annoy the hell out of you?
Zoos have huge problems with this too. I remember somewhere a while back had a sea lion die because they found out it's stomach was entirely full of coins.
Lolol make a wish! Goldfish-sama will grant it for u!
Hm. I remember as a kid this fish store had a pond inside with sting rays and catfish and a bunch of coins. They were really experienced guys too so if this it bad I wonder why they let it happen

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

How can you go through the trouble of getting exotic and have this kind of taste?

First for terrapin master race
But seriously though I'm considering getting live plants for my RES. Anyone here have experience with that? I have no idea what kind of substrate to get. Are there "meme substrates" to avoid?
