What do you think about BARF diet for dogs and cats?

I found this and it pretty much says it's bullshit, but I've seen a lot of people convinced that it's the best thing ever.

I haven't done enough research on it to come to a definite opinion. I won't bother either since it's too much of a hassle for questionable reward. What really turns me off the whole thing, however, is the almost cultlike devotion to their "cause" among BARfers.

Tufts is correct. The huge problem is that 'homemade' diets unless organised by a veterinary nutritionist will most likely be deficient in numerous nutrients.

This is without taking into consideration that raw bones DO splinter, and DO cause perforations.

Tufts is correct- there is NO studies out there that prove raw has any real tangible benefits, just downsides.
>>
With all the commercial raw diets available these days, there's no reason to be making your own. A lot of veterinary criticism is based on the old notion that in order to feed raw, you have to do all the formulation on your own and that you'll be careless in handling raw meat. It's just not true anymore.

To say that there are no studies that suggest a raw diet is superior is a little misleading. While there's still debate as to whether a raw diet has benefits over lightly cooked food, the vast majority of pet owners do not feed "lightly cooked" food. Kibble and cans are processed at extremely high temperatures. There are plenty of studies out there that show minimal processing, the use of high quality ingredients, a high meat level diet (especially for cats), and a moisture-rich diet (again, especially for cats) are beneficial. It just happens to be the case that you'll get all of the above benefits with a raw diet.

>hai wuts goin on in here?

To op question, I've never had a dangerous encounter with any aminals. Saw a stray doggo once who was pretty mad but he calmed down right away when he realized I wasn't trying to bug him or encroach on his sleeping spot. I called up animal control for him and they took him to the pound.

I was walking up the driveway to my apartment and a large boxer come walking up on me, and it wasn't trotting over all friendly. It wasn't being outwardly aggressive, but it was being very assertive towards me

it was keeping a few feet away and tracking me with its chest puffed and would take a step up every time I took a step back.

I was trying my hardest to not look like a prey item, but I didn't want to challenge it either
its one of those things, I feel like some animals you are supposed to challenge and impose dominance and they cower, and with others you are supposed to be submissive and back away. The wrong answer with the wrong animal gets you attacked

I went the strong eye contact but back away to disengage route...I don't think it was working. Then luckily there was this other huge ass cunt of a dog named bruno next door that lived behind the chain link fence, and he was a madman, he would bark and thrash and go wild every time I walked by. He came to the rescue and chased the other dog off. I was never so happy to see that faggot, he ran in like a pimp protecting his bottom bitch

Why are humans killing off our closest extant relatives? All other great ape species are either endangered or critically endangered.

Gotta keep up with our ancestral legacy. If we can't fuck it to death, we need to kill it.
>>

If the great apes were found native in North America, Europe, or Australia, they wouldn't be endangered.

I got one of these on one of my testicles as a kid. I got really pissed and after I pulled it off with tweezers I made sure it suffered by burning it with a match because it need to pay for stealing my semen. Afterwards I went to my dad who was doing something on the computer and said "I got a tick on my wiener" he didn't hear it the first time, so I had to tell him again. He asked if he should take a look and I told him no cause I already got it off, then I ran away embarrassed. I was just really worried I'd get Lyme disease because my dad always warned me about that, so I thought I'd give him a heads up in case I did get Lyme disease.

I want to assume that since I'm in Alabama it's not one of the few poisonous varieties. I only ask because this is the second one I've killed, and it's a high foot traffic area both day and night. Thank you for the response

Imagine dying alone in fear and not understanding what is happening by being slowly cooked to death.
Never returning to the Earth, all for nothing because Khrushchev was a dickhead.

>The more time passes, the more I’m sorry about it,We shouldn’t have done it. We did not learn enough from the mission to justify the death of the dog. - Oleg Gazenko, one of the scientists on the team.

Reel my dog in and cross the street. He still gets too excited greeting dogs on a leash and wouldn't be able to handle greeting three. It's just easier to avoid that kind of situation instead of trying to use an unwitting stranger's dogs as teaching tools.
