There isn't a sticky here so, I would like if anyone could give me a guide to having a kitten and such.

PLEASE

Should I brush it's teeth? I already am going to brush it's fur daily if I can.

>Should I brush it's teeth
this is a joke right
>>
>>2171431
No, I don't know much about cats and I want to learn, but someone told me that brushing their teeth is good for them. (without toothpaste)
>>
Meh. Only because I am taking a shit at work.

>Clean the box daily.
>Brush its teeth if it will let you. You have to do it everyday or its pointless though.
>Brushing the coat daily is only necessary if it's a long hair. Short hairs can be brushed a couple times a week.
>Feed it a high quality wet food. I recommend Weruva. It will be expensive, but you'll save on the long run in vet bills
>Avoid food with fish. Fish is tough on the kidneys and urinary tract.
>Play with it everyday. Kittens needs lots of stimulation or they'll become destructive.
>Keep it on flea prevention even if it is indoor. Crazy things can and do happen.
>Get some cat treea. Kittens and cats need high places to jump and explore.

I'm wondering if anyone on here can tell me the breed/mixed breed of my partners dog.
She got it's a a rescue and we believe its a border terrier cross, we're just struggling to find out what it may be crossed with.
Thanks for your help in advance guys.

First off, we have a vet visit scheduled already, so no worries, we are getting professionals on the job.

But I am still worried and want to hear what /an/ thinks:
She has stopped eating, is listless/sluggish, and she tries to puke but nothing or white foam comes out.

We think it is something she may have eaten in our garden, or an infection, since she is young and show no signs of fever, kidney failure, or any of the major diseases.

She may have swallowed a whole feather (we found and cleaned some up 2 days ago) or potential a plant or insect that got lodged somehow. It had to be something the house or garden (we watch her like a hawk, she absolutely never gets beyond our garden) and she doesn't get into the trash (they get plenty of food and we make sure the trash is secure and taken out often.)

None of our other cats are ill, so it is unlikely to be a virus. Any thoughts?

>my cats dying
Too bad, op. Take solace in the knowledge that the world will be a slightly better place after it takes its final breath.
>>
>>2171230
She is definitely not dying, she still tries to play and shows no signs of actually kicking the bucket, she is just sick and clearly uncomfortable.

We are taking her to the vet for treatment, and about the only thing thst could possibly be fatal off the top of my head is cancer. And she is very young for that (14 months.) Also she has had all her shots and has been fixed, so the list of possible ailments is fairly low overall.
>>
>>2171234
Do you keep lillies in your garden? Those are toxic to cats. Even if you don't, someone nearby just might.
Also, if you keep your cat outdoors or let it go outdoors then you have to consider the very real possibility that it was poisoned, intentionally or otherwise.

I'm watching this cat for a friend for a month. Very sweet, but why has she licked herself bald on her lower half? Or could it be allergies or something?

Alimony
>>
My cat did the same to her belly, we tried to prevent that with lotions but nothing worked. We later found out that she did it out of stress because we had another cat that she didn't get along with. After that cat died, she stopped licking and never did that again, her fur growed back normally.
So unless you remove the cause of the stress, she'll keep licking and could also go completely bald or scratch her skin with her tongue.

>the cause of the stress,

probably misses it's owner. where the fuck is your friend op??

Salticidae. not sure what species, really cool, some of the most advanced spiders, totally harmless to you, extremely dangerous for a fly.

I don't have the skills or the leg to that. He's walking pretty quick now btw

I assume the mole is cosplaying as a shrew?

I noticed that my betta's fins began fraying, and after doing a bit of research I think she may have some bacterial fin rot. I did a full water change and gave her some Bettafix. Is there anything else I should do for her? She's my first fish so I'm new to the aquarium keeping hobby. Any help would be much appreciated.

>>
pic related? you could filter the fucking water
>>
never do a full water change.

you need to pick up a filter and a heater. that size tank seems like it's probably okay, maybe a bit small. google aquarium cycling.
>>
>>2170275
Looks like it has an undergravel filter. They work ok. Function better in reverse with a powerhead is forcing water down the tube rather than air drawing water upwards.

Just started an insect vivarium the other day. I'm trying to mimic the canopy floor of a northern coniferous forest.

Im keeping the soil moist to promote mold for my janitors and also to keep my worms happy.

I have springtails, millipedes and pill bugs for janitorial duty.

Theres also a darkling beetle and a couple larvae to go along with it. Found a couple jagged ambush bugs that I will probably release because I don't think they're getting adequate nutrients.

I purchased a clip on LED light for minimal growth and to keep the soil from drying out so the worms don't die.

My worms don't seem to like the soil much. It's definitely damp enough for them without them getting flooded. It could be the pH but I can't be certain.

Besides the worms everything is doing well so far.

Any one else collect insects or have advice?

A little down under the usual, mate.
>>
>>2170256
i think it would look nice and maintain humidity a bit more if you placed a live plant or two in there. nothing immodest, just a touch of sorrel, trillium, or montia cordifolia. also do you plan on adding a big critter for dramatic effect? A stag beetle or a mantis or orb weaver?

Anyone know what this thing is? I found it on a cottonwood bonsai I've been trying to make.

Never seen one of these things before, doesn't look like it was doing anything to the tree.

Anything I should be worried about? The bonsai is barely clinging to life as is.

Thanks by the way

Not that guy but while tree hoppers do drink plant fluids its not the problem. Its like finding a mosquito on a guy with a gunshot wound

Hey /an/, this is my new betta fish, Prince Lothric. I got him 3 days ago. Yesterday I had to transport him and he was clearly stressed. He was fine this morning, but I checked on him when I came home from work to find him looking like this.

He's not lethargic, his fins aren't clumped, and he ate today. He lives in a 4 gal fishbowl with a carbon filter but no heater (I live in a warm country and the petshop guy said I don't need one). But I'm scared shitless about this growth on his side. As you can see it's slightly fuzzy and flesh-coloured. It's spread to his other side too but not as severely.

Googling has yielded jack shit. I believe he has velvet, a bacterial infection, or a fungal infection. But that doesn't help much. Please, /an/ help me identify what's wrong with him and tell me how to treat him. I'll do anything for him to survive, even by a new tank. I just don't fucking want him to die.

Fungus, homie.
>>
>>2169968
Thanks m8.

I'm worried that there might be some underlying problem though. There are no other fish in the tank and nothing he could have injured himself on. If it's a bacterial infection he picked up at the pet shop, should I treat it the same or?
