Completely random question - Does anyone know where I might be able to find proper observations or measurements for the speed of a zebra or giraffe kick?
I'm trying to compile a list of speeds of animal strikes, and it seems that the consensus is that a zebra or giraffe has the strongest kick in the animal kingdom.
Picture not related.

Why does the best lagomorph not get any attention, here or otherwise?
>pikachu gets no attention
>>2171141
>it has Pika in its name so it's obviously based on it
"Pikachu has physical aspects of several species of rodents, and its category suggests that it is based on a mouse."
"Pikachu is a combination of ピカピカ pikapika (onomatopoeia for sparkle) and チューチュー chūchū (the sound of squeaking)."
They have literally nothing in common aside from a coincidental name sharing.
>>2171468
it's also pronounced pike-uh, not peek-uh
About two weeks ago there was a wasp which usually flew round my bench. Every so often it'd land and start scratching small lines of wood off of the bench.
Fast forward two weeks and now there are three wasps which show up daily to scratch pieces of wood off my bench and carry it away to god knows where.
I was wondering if /an/ knew why wasps do this.
Are they just taking little bits of wood so they can stick together a nest or what?
Pic is totally unrelated
>Are they just taking little bits of wood so they can stick together a nest or what?
Yep, thats exactly what they're doing. Also don't worry, they aren't aggressive while they're out gathering materials like that.
>>2170981
They chew the wood up with saliva to make a paste and then use it to make their paper-based nest. Some kinds make an open-ended nest like pic related.
>>2170981
And others make these enclosed paper nests. These are hornets. The ones in the previous picture are wasps. Some other kinds of wasps use mud instead.
so we have a pug and the vet said he might get blind unless we use the Sodium hyaluronate at 1%.
Is there any other product that prevent the pug from going blind?
Can I use the human Sodium hyaluronate at 4%?
At first I thought he only needed to have lubed eyes so we bought hypromellose.
Human products are not typically the same for animal products. They may have harmless additives for us but could be devastating for other animals. If the vet is a 1%, use a 1%. 4% may be too strong on a dog.
Just listen to the vet. Sometimes you can diy medication but if you are not familiar with it then its not worth the risk.
What kind of spooking spider is this that I found in my house? Body length was about the diameter of a penny.

looks like some type of jumping spider, it's harmless.
Is it really true that cats leave mice or whatever they catch in front of your door as a "gift"?
Because I have seen my cat leave something in front of my house multiple times, but when I open the door he quickly picks up his prey (he usually sits right in front of the door in the morning) and runs off.
My indoor cat has brought me mice. Once I as sitting on the floor sorting stuff, and she came over with something in her mouth. I told her to drop it and she dropped a mouse in my lap. I went to pick it up and it sprang back to life, and we spent a good 20 minutes chasing it.
Another time I had left a bowl next to my bed before I went to sleep. When a woke up, she had left a dead mouse in it.

There's a theory that they do it to show us that we're terrible hunters.

your cat is trying to better you. It's showing you what you COULD have if only you'd get up and take it

I've read a lot of alarming stuff about how eating any amount of onion or garlic will totally obliterate a cat. But I've been around and had cats since I was born, and they've all consumed some amount of onion and the like without any visible ill effects, and lived long, healthy lives. The stuff I've found online ranges from "any onion will kill your cat on the spot" to "don't worry about it lol", but I haven't found any legitimate-looking sites with information on it, nor any actual scientific metabolic information on the supposed effects. So what's the real story here?
>>2170531
I'm not an expert but I believe it's toxic to them. In small amounts they should be to handle it.
Why are you feeding onions to cats though, op? I don't prefer cats either but I wouldn't actively poison them in any quantity.
They are poisonous to cats, but it's not like one nibble of garlic and they are dead. It's usually more a concern if they cat somehow got into onions/garlic powder and consumed a ton.
>>2170531
I've fed sauteed onions, just a few bits, once. No ill effect that I noticed.
Had a visitor today. Can anyone tell me what kind of lizard this is? I currently live near Hanoi, Vietnam.
>>2170514

probably asian gold skink.
How much exercise do they need ? 2 hours?
>>2170533
This.
No sarcasm.

Why do dogs bark at black people?
I'm not trying to be /pol/, I'm actually interested in learning why.
racist dog owners
didn't socialize them between 8 -16 weeks with black people.
/thread
>>2170269
Do you also have to socialize them with both light and dark dogs?
>I think my kitty got bitten on the back of her neck
>it got infected
>big lump under skin
>today it burst
>puss everywhere, it was gross and smelled bad
>i cleaned it up best i could with some warm water and paper towels
is she gonna be ok /an/? I don't want to pay for a vet
>>2170228
betadine (iodine) and neosporin. clean several times a day and keep an eye on it.
if you're too cheap to buy iodine, soap and water.
>>2170228
Awww poor kitty. I'm not a vet but stay on here long enough and I'm sure someone will know
Use a warm damp paper towel and compress the wound to reduce inflammation. Don't push too hard. Do this a few times a day.
Make sure the paper towel is clean and try to make sure she doesn't lick it.
Don't let her go outside until it heals and make sure she stays hydrated. I feed my cats a spoonful of wet food with a few ounces of hot/warm water to encourage them to drink.
She should be fine. If you notice her "hiding" a lot more, being abnormally unsociable, she might be getting sick.
