My new house has a ton of garter snakes under and around it. How do I get them to fuck off? I'd rather not kill them I just want them to go away.

I lived around garter snakes for about 13 years. One nest I found in my barn early on, another was found several years later.
As long as I kept my grass cut, property cleaned up, and I had woodlands or pasture close by, I never seen them.
Sure, I ran over a few with the mower, seen a few carried off by red tails, but other than that they were the 2nd best pest deterrent I know off.
>first is keeping your shit picked up
>>
>>2243708
I guess you'd need to get rid of their food source first.
>>
>>2243722
>>2243723
Yeah I never even saw them until I first cut the grass(tall and out of control) and got rid of all the random wood piles. I guess they're just scrambling to find new hiding spots?

it's probably just a lipoma.

It will be alright as long as your baby is still acting normal and nothing happens during the surgery it should be fine.

I do hope it isnt cancer and if its something bad at least he was happy and was with someone who cared instead of a shelter all alone.

Pic sorta related. Can't be assed to go out for an actual photo.

Girlfriend and I made a garden in our front yard planter.

Got a few succulents but the cacti are my pride.

My peanut cactus has basically tripled in size in like 2 months.

Also have Beaver Tail, Devil's Tongue, some grafted cacti, 2 Old Men of the Andes, and (I think) it's called a Snow Cactus or some shit.

It's a cluster with small spikes that grow sideways to cover the entire plant.

>buying your pet from a breeder

Why?
127 posts and 15 images submitted.
>>
https://youtu.be/mDaMdkrDXKE

Because I want a protection dog, and I don't think I can get that from a shelter.
>>
>>2242287
Shelter's full of pitbulls more than any other breed. If that's not enough to protect you, then you got bigger problems than finding the right pup m8.
>>
>>2242289
No, I have a pit and she's great, but she's only an alarm if someone comes in.

I want an actual protection dog like in that brochure. On top of that I want a German shepherd from someone I can trace the lineage back and make sure the breeding is good.

How do I start picking up falconry?

I'm nowhere near capable of owning a falcon at the moment, still in university and whatnot, but it's something I've been interested in and I'd like to know what I can do to start.

I work at a nature center, so I already have experience with a lot of exotic animals, but never falcons.
I'll likely start an apprenticeship after uni, but if there's anything I can do before, just tell me.

Also, I live in South Florida (About an hour north of Miami, if that helps suggest breeds/places to get started)

You at FIU? Or MDC? I don't know much about falconry either, but I've always thought Kestrels were dope.

FAU, I'm the same guy from the fossil thread.
I just like birda a lot, but have always thought falcons were awesome.

Different states have different regulations, I think. When I looked into falconry in Washington state, twenty or so years ago, you had to get a license and then apprentice under a licensed falconer for X number of years before you could get your own bird. Different regulations for different species. Some I think you were only allowed to keep seasonally! Seemed incredibly complicated. Find a club or something to join.

The Plant General - Amorphophallus edition

Welcome to /plant/, the magical green place on this blue board. ITT: We shill my Nepenthes collection, uncover plont's birth certificate and continue to ogle sexy pots full of Dionaea.

/Plant/ is for the discussion of plants (obviously). Horticulturists, hobbyists and botanists welcome! Questions about plants? Want to show off your two inch dick-I mean plant? Maybe you want to start growing something new and exciting? Well come on over to /plant/!

Introducing a new basic caresheet with every thread: easy Amorphophallus species
>first and foremost, these are seasonal plants with tuberous dormancy periods over autumn(fall)/winter
>big deep pot for stability and plenty of room below the surface for the tuber
>loose, aerated, well-draining soil (keep moist at all times during growth)
>rich organic content and frequent high-phosphate fertilising, depending on species (A. titanum and tropical species might need more trace elements)
>partially-shaded light is best, full sun if you're in the UK or other low-light Sharia zones
>20-25°c works for most species during growing season, increase it for the harder tropical stuff
>dormancy - once the leaf wilts and begins to die, stop watering. Leave the soil to dry, then carefully dig up the tubers. Depending on the species, store for 3-7 months in a sealed ziplock bag full of their old dry soil (cooler temps of around 15°c are ideal) until it's time for the cycle to begin again
>many species produce copious amounts of bulbs and/or bulbils so make sure you don't accidentally bin any
>towering, rotten cock flowers will only appear several years in, so don't get your hopes up

> How do I rescue this flea-ridden male kitty?

I found an adorable lost kitty. He has been outside for at least a month according to the neighbors. None of them claim the cat and none of them know of anyone missing a cat like him. He is super friendly running up to me crying and purring whenever he spots me.

He's not fully grown yet, but he's old enough his eyes are gold. He might be old enough to spray but I don't know for sure. He also has fleas from being a lost kitty.

I want to take him in and give him love but I'm not sure how to do this without filling my apartment with fleas and cat spray.

What should I do?

I thought about doing it all at once with one vet trip (Neuter, shots and flea dip) but he really hates boxes and cat carriers. I suspect he was abused in one before escaping from his last owner. It also might result in fleas in my car/home.

I could give him flea drops and a collar then wait a few days for the fleas to die. The problem then is he's not fixed and I don't want him to spray up the apartment. He also might wonder off and get even more lost.

My only "spare" room is a bathroom with plaster walls which makes things tricky.

Ideas, anons?

Pic isn't my kitty but he looks pretty close.

Actually that was the first thing I did as soon as the neighbors told me he had been out there a month and had no owner. Then the guy started to win me over so I'm very tempted to save him somehow.

Any way you slice it (keep or send out) I will need to find a way to crate the cat which hasn't been easy so far. As much as he wants love and to be indoors he doesn't want boxes or cat carriers at all. I have never seen a cat hate boxes as much as he does.

None of the local animal organizations do pickups except for Animal Control and they only pick up sick or injured animals.

> ASPCA
3 month waiting list. I would need to take the cat in myself and care for him during that time. If I'm going to have to invest hundreds of dollars to keep the cat while the list opens up I might as well keep the cat.

> Local Shelter
The kitty would have three weeks to be adopted or be killed. I'd feel terrible if that happened. He's so sweet. Dying outside is even worse, though, so this is what I will have to do if I can't find an answer.

>Animal Control
Also a long waiting list around 3 months for healthy pet animals. Only injured or sick pets get fast attention.
>>
>>2247415
Assuming you wouldn't be allowed to adopt him if you are the person to surrender him,
>get friend who will adopt him (for you) before his time is up
>take to local shelter
>let them treat his fleas
>he gets treatment, housing, food, socialization
OR
>rough kitty up
>take to animal control

Every time I make chicken nuggets, my cat starts licking my fingers. Why does she do this?

Kitty wants dem nugs, bro.

Seriously, though- she's either begging for food by being cute or licking nugget residue off your fingers depending on if you touched the nuggets before or after she started licking.

Southeastern Virginia. Never seen one this big in america before. We get tiny brown centipedes and a fuck load of millipedes but never these.

It crawled out of my backpack and bit me on the neck last night

My backpack sits on the floor of my office all day at work. At my job we get large industrial pallet shipments from Mexico. Is it possible giant Mexican pedes are hitching all the way up here to bite me?
