My pit pup got to work on his impulse control around all the kids and got a lot of attention as a reward. He slept like a rock afterwards, though.

I'm thinking about feeding my cat raw food. Does anyone here do this? If so how do you do it? What's your method? Do you add supplements? What are they? If you don't do raw what do you feed your cat?

no but I want to! I'm planning on buying a good meat grinder ($200+) and grinding up bone-in meats and organs. I'm going to do large batches, freeze it in ice cube trays and then feed them in my bathtub so they don't drag raw meat all over my carpeted apartment.

catinfo.org has great information on cat diets.

I feed wet canned food, the cheapest grain-free stuff I can find because I'm poor.
>>
>>2256531
Raw food is fine as long as you douse it in antifreeze before you feed. It helps them digest it.
>>
>>2256544
Thanks for replying.
Feeding inthe bathtub is a good idea.

One of my dogs tolerates it and just meekly accepts it. The other rebels and tries to run away. I've been working on counter conditioning it and trying to make her like baths, but its a slow process.

really easy

>>
>>2256445
Same here. They both went through the same training at the same age. Some people are afraid of heights and others aren't, same with dog baths. You can condition them to an extent but the scared ones will likely still be jumpy.

I'm thinking of getting a pet duck. But before I get one, I need to know from duck owners or duck experts on duck knowledge. Are ducks cool? How are they? What do they do? Is it worth it? Can I sleep? Do they cuddle with you? Are they smart? Do they bond with me?

if you want a duck but you don't know anything about ducks then you don't want a duck.
>>
>>2256260
Ducks are awesome, but a lot of maintenance, they need to wear diapers unless you want duck shit everywhere. They also need a place to swim to keep their nostrils and eyes clean. I'd totally get one if I could take care of it.
>>
>>2256260
You need to get a few if you want to keep a duck. Some places make you buy multiple fucks. In my state, the smallest amount of ducks you can purchase is 6.

Come live in my house during summer. Wolf spider galore. Turn all lights out besides tv and watch the fuckers dart across the wood floor as shadows. Found one with legs as long as my hand. Woke up to a few dead wolf spiders over the years as I rolled over on them.
>>
i never kill spiders, thy make for exellent pest control.
Thanks to spiders i know for a fact i will only be bothered by like 5 mosquitos year, TOPS. Let alone any other pests that might bother me, flies are eaten, bugs are eaten, beetles are eaten, cockroaches are eaten.
No pests for me, i got spiders.

They seem to. My dog likes to lay with her head behind me in what I would consider a disturbing position to be in, but she seems to like the contact/pressure.

Also for grooming I pretty much have to wrap myself around her to get her to calm down and stay steady... it doesn't freak her out, it calms her down.
>>
I kneel and hug my dog from behind and scratch his chest. He seems to like it because if I kneel down he will come and sit down with his back to me for a hug
>>
Its something they have to learn

Normally wrapping yourself around a dog is a declaration of dominance but eventually theyll learn its not that when humans do it

Unlike cats Dogs recognize that they are different than us and make effort to interpret our body language and speech

>>

Anytime pitbull a are brought up, I've read annecdotes of people knowing owners who treated their pit bulls well being attacked out of nowhere by pitbulls.

Are these gross exaggerations, or are pitbulls known for sporadic attacks?

Hey /an/, a /b/fag here. My black lab is about 11 months now and he's a good doggo, but misbehaves occasionally. inb4 "animal abuse" because we treat him well, but when he misbehaves (runs away, chews stuff, etc), we put him in his cage over night (w/ doghouse & water bowl) and feed him as well. After retrieving him from the cage, after school (underage b&), 1/3 of the time he (fakely) limps, and ill note its only after disciplining him. And when we get inside, he'll lay down, stare at me, and shamefully wag his tail nonstop. I fucking hate it. He'll forget to limp here and there, and if he hears food, he'll sprint to me at mach 10. 2 questions, A: Is there any chance it's medical, or actually psychological for him? B: If not, how do i stop him from being a sociopath? thanks guys.

You are the fucking sociopath.

>he'll lay down, stare at me, and shamefully wag his tail nonstop. I fucking hate it

Why the hell do you even have a dog?

Shitty owner is shitty.
>>
>>2257076

I'm pretty sure this is bait. Few people could be stupid enough to think their limping dogs are "faking it".
>>
>>2257076
hes treated well. he's caged at night if he's bad, which is rarely. and in the AM normally because he has a tendency to chew. after i let him out i feed him, and give him attention, but he acts shameful constantly after, regardless of how i treat him. it's hard to explain., and yeah i probably worded it badly, but nonstop acts shameful, even after being fed, pet, and played with.

Yesterday I took my family's dog to the garden behind my apartment lot, and used a 20 meter leash I got on ebay so she could run freely.

She's a small-medium dog who never learned to walk without a leash. My mother tried to remove her leash without my say so. I got pretty pissed off by that and so did she for not letting her free the dog.

A couple minutes pass and my dog's leash, being so long, get's tangled around a tree. My mother grabs the leash near the dog and pulls it against her - knowing fully well the harness on my dog would slip off her shoulders by the angle she was pulling it.

Of course my dog got set free, and she started running towards the street. I was the one who had to run after her. She only stopped because the gate was luckily closed at the time but she could have still jumped over the fence.

Am I wrong to be pissed off? We could have lost our dog just because my mom recklessly believes an untrained dog is going to obey to come back - which she didn't.

Why doesn't your dog come when you call it?
>>
>>2256870
Dont let your mom come around your dog then

Also train the damn dog wtf is wrong with you?
>>
>>2256874
she does in the house, most of the time when you call her she gets in play position and wants you to chase her.

>>2256875
the dog is not just mine. I feel it's too late to train my dog without a leash. I have experience with dogs, but that's when I lived with my grandparents on a closed farm.
Now I live in the city and I never trained the family dog to walk without a leash. I'm scared she runs off.

What sort of care does a German Shepherd need through his life ?
Just got a 3 month old puppy , what precautions do I need to take?
Pic related , it's her

Good socialization and obedience for sure. Get her into a puppy school. Two birds, one stone.
>>
She is going to need a bunch of exercise as well as mental stimulation. Look into doing dog sports with her. Perhaps Schulzhund?
>>
>>2256789
Just train her to be obedient and mindful

Get rid of any aggression and give her oppurtunities to meet with other people and dogs

No different from any other breed

I am considering getting birds from a LPS. Should I get two budgies or two finches? Complete beginner, only had experience with fish and dogs.
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2256668
Budgies are better likely to bond with you. From what I've heard, finches are harder to tame.
>>
Get one budgie maybe, try hand reared if you can. It will be a more interactive pet.

If you are okay with a more hands-off approach or you dont have much time to spend with your birds, get finches. three or more would be good.
>>
>>2256693
He should get two because birbs are social af.

There's a little cat outside my apartment with a swollen mouth. It's been like this for months.

Bump
>>
>>2256629
If you can get that close for a pic I would take it to a shelter. Swelled mouth means difficult time eating, a huge survival factor for stays. Likely some sort of infection from eating stuff on the streets.
>>
>>2256629
sort if looks like an eosinophilic granuloma, but hard to tell from that pic.

So my cat just finished being treated for her first UTI, and the vet tells me that my cat needs to move from her dry cat foot to wet cat food from here on out.

I don't know which brand to use, and of course a google search for "wet cat food" turns up mountains of advertised shit.

I need something that won't cost me my left nut in price, but isn't processed cornmeal shit from god knows where.

Any tips?

Yeah, get rid of it and get a decent pet like a dog or lizard or something.
>>
easiest decent food is fancy feast classics.

there are better and cheaper foods out there though.
