I didn't know where else I could ask this but it's just a simple question about the possibility of having twins.

My girlfriend and I always wondered if we have a possibility of having twins since my mother is a twin. I don't know how it passes down but is there a possibility that we could have twins with it running in my family?

i'm not sure if it would only work for a female or if the male can carry the trait also. i'm unsure if it only carries on through women or male. I would assume only female since the egg splits but just want to know.

Apparently women who have a fraternal twin are 2.5 times more likely to give birth to fraternal twins. So yeah I think you're right, it won't effect your own chances of twins, seems to only be a female thing.
>>
It's only a female thing. It's either that her egg will split in two or she will drop more than one egg during ovulation. Every person in your family ever could be twins and it would have no effect on you and her having twins
>>
>>2261222
i know a woman who was a twin, her mother was a twin and she had a set of twins

she got pregnant with another set but got an abortion-tube tie combo because she didn't want 5 kids

So I have to have my doggo out down tomorrow he has got "coon fever" and is paralyzed. I heard that before they go they start to look around for you is this true? If so should I stay with him during his very last moment or not? I want to be with him,but it's going to be very hard.

Even if he doesn't look around for you, wouldn't you wanna be there for your buddy?

He's been your pet for, I'm assuming, years now. The second he hears your voice he knows who you are. Your very presence in that vet's room will be a comfort to him.

Go there, and say goodbye to your pet. You've given him all this time and love, you might as well see this thing through. I know that feel, and it sucks. But that's life man. The world will keep spinning and the sun will keep rising, with or without your dog.

Life is hard buddy. And it will continue to be hard. But you aren't just doing it for you. You're doing this for your dog too. Do you really want him to die with some strangers next to him, wondering where his master is?

This is one of those things that you're gonna need to buck up and just do. It'll be good for you too to get some closure.

You need to harden the fuck up son. Life can be a cold bitch at times. Roll up your fucking sleeves up and take care of business, and go with your dog to be at peace.

I found a dead pupa out of no where a few days ago and "dissected" it. I was wondering if any of you guys know what kind of bug it is?

Way to go you just killed what would've grown up to be a beautiful moth or beetle. It wasn't dead, it's insides were simply changing inside the pupa.

My mom's dog has little bloody scabs all over his back. She has yet to take him to a vet (she got some medicated shampoo thinking it would take care of it). The shampoo has not helped, he seems to be getting worse. I was guessing mites of some sort could be the issue, but I'm not really familiar with dog health issues.

Can anyone identify from this photo what the likely cause is and what I can do to help him? If you think he needs a vet visit I'll force my mom to take him in or I'll take him myself.

I don't think it's a big deal for them. It creates some drag as they swim through the water, but if it was significant you'd see more dead whales, since basically every whale you see has barnacles.

Weird incident. My mom's cat was found dead in her trailer park. No signs of death. Just dead. There's been three before him (from other people in the park) that died the same way. She lives in South Florida.

I make sure I take care of all outdoor cats. They're pests who kill native species.

If you cared about the cat it wouldn't have been abandoned outdoors.
>>
>>2260279
Could be anything from someone's car leaking shit and cats drinking it to cats spreading and dying from untreated feline diseases. Many cat diseases go on undetected for years.
>>
>>2260279
>Weird incident.
Not really. When people say outside cats have a shorter life expectancy it is mainly because of predators, automobiles, disease, and of course people poisoning them.
However considering this is probably a bait thread started by a troll I'm sure you're already aware of this and just wanted to draw attention to the fact.
Either way, enjoy the (You)

I have this small succulent and I am afraid it is drying out and will die. Also its container is very small.
Please recommens me how to repot it and which soil will be most effective to grow it with? Also how do you take care of this sort of plant? I don't know anything abou it.

Thanks /an/

cactus soil mixed with two parts gravel. the smaller the pot the better. If the succulent wants repotting it will tell you with roots escaping.

Your plant probably would live in that thing if you water it whenever it's totally dry.

That's what succulents like.

protip cactus soil is just potting mix + more perlite and sphagnum + sand

how come some animals are huge as babies, but small as adults?
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Most invertebrate larvae are going to be relative in size to the adults. Generally larva serve as a resource gathering stage and adults as a gene propegation stage. If a baby animal is bigger than the adult it is for whatever reason because it helps it reach a stage where it can fuck. I don't know of any actual examples of this happening.
>>
A larva's body is mostly fat storage. It's all energy for the metamorphosis.

okay, thanks.

So, about a week and a half ago, I was opening the fridge for something or other, and my pet rabbit, Dobbit, dashes into the fridge and clambers onto one of the shelves.

I pull him out, get my food, forget about it. Over the past period, he keeps running inside, on average 1-2 times a day, and I would shoo him out. I figured that there was something in there he could smell, so today I just tried rewarding his persistence and letting him nibble whatever it was he so badly wanted.

So today, when he hopped in, I didn't chase him out. And he didn't go for anything. He just kind of sat on one of the shelves and grunted contentedly.

Anyone ever deal with similar behavior? I'm stumped at this one.

my cats jump in the fridge all the time, maybe your bun has seen you grab veggies out of there?
>>

Bunnies are curious. Same thing as when I look around in the tool closet or whatever you call it, my bunny comes to see what I'm doing, and looking around in there.
>>
>>2260014
My rabbit runs into the fridge. But mainly due to the fact she knows that is where food comes from. So whenever I open the door she runs inside hoping to get a treat.

Who wants to talk about the possibility of Bigfoot's existence? I want to hear /an/'s perspective, instead of /x/'s.

What would it take to scientifically confirm it? There are several reports of bigfoot being killed before, should we capture one alive?

If they exist, why is it so hard to find one, and what animal are they closest to?

>>
Contrary to popular belief the presence of a big mammal is not hard to proof even if population density is low.
Bones, hair, feces and so on are easily sampled even if the actual animal is shy and rare. Regular surveys for conservation efforts have no problem turning up evidence and estimating populations of large mammals living in vast nature reserves. Bigfoot would be no exception.

Just as an example, the eurasian lynx is extremely rare in places because it is lives an ecosystem that has much less biomass than the forests bigfoot is supposed to exist in and on top of that it is a pure carnivore. That means if anything its population density would be a lot lower than that of the bigfoot. It is also extremely shy and solitary and constantly roams through its huge territory and yet proofing its recent presence in the ecosystem and estimating populations is not problem at all.

In recent years metabarcoding approaches of environmental DNA have also become very popular and widespread and the presence of an unknown mammal, let alone ape would have been both easy to proof and find. This hasn't happened.

Bigfoot is cryptid bullshit that doesn't hold up under closer examination.

>have 3-y-old boxer

Good boy with just a little high energy?
Or bad dog who has to be physically subdued into behaving?

While boxers are very high energy dogs, at this point he thinks it's a game or pulling your bike is what you want him to do.
Leash breaking your dog requires patience, a firm hand, and above all repetition. Good luck.
>>
>>2261213
Trust me, I spent hours and hours and hours trying to leash break him, but it simply does not work.

This was way before I ever strapped him to my bike btw, so that's not where he learned it.

But you should see how well he walks after sprinting for a couple of miles.
