How can I tell if my house stinks? And what could I do to fix it when I can't locate pet smells?
I have two indoor cats and two dogs.
2 out of 3 of the cat litter trays are in the bedroom (one of the cats is elderly and rarely leaves the room) the other is in the laundry. I clean the bedroom ones the minute the cats poop, along with as much wet litter as I can scoop out, and the trays are washed with hot soapy water 1-2 times a week.
My dogs have their own beds but I do let them on the furniture if I'm in the room. I wash their/my bedding every other week.
My windows are always open unless it's raining. And I have automatic air fresheners in every room.
But my MIL and her friends say my house is unbearable to enter.
My MIL is a massive bitch though and complains about literally everything (rearranging my furniture because it annoys her, pulling dishes out of the cupboard and rewashing them, etc)
Is she just being her usually bitchy self or am I just so immune to my pets I can't tell the difference? Anything else I could do to minimise smells?
Honestly it sounds like you do a fine job of keeping things clean and fresh enough to avoid animal stink.
Obviously, animals have a smell and some people are very sensitive to those smells, but based off what you've told me you basically do everything you can to keep animal smells to a minimum. Most pet owners aren't as diligent as you are about this, so unless your MIL has complaints about every other pet owner's home, I think she's probably just giving you a hard time.
Best way to tell is to spend at least an entire day outside, far from the house, and then come back in. Having some separation from the smell desensitizes you and allows you to notice it.
Alternately, bring a friend over and ask their honest opinion.

What do you feed them?
You sound pretty diligent in cleanliness, morseso than the vast majority of pet owners, but some animals get pretty greasy and gross smelling from certain foods.
Anyone here experienced in degenerative heart valve disease in small dogs? One of my doggos was diagnosed with this last week, she seemed completely fine until she started breathing heavily and coughing all of the sudden. She's already getting treatment to slow down this shit and was doing ok but today she had some kind of relapse and started breathing heavily and coughing again. Took her to the vet, they removed liquid out of her thorax and I'm supposed to take her tomorrow to see how she's doing. I guess my question is, how much longer do you think she has based on your experience? I was expecting at the very least 3 or 4 months but today really scared me. She's 14, literally been with me for half of my life. Another question is, will my other dog grief her. I'm worried about leaving him alone once she's gone.

Hey /an/ can we get a fossil thread going?
Do you have any fossils of your own? Have you gone fossil digging before? Best places in the US/world to search for fossils?
What's your favorite prehistoric flora/fauna?
Pic very much related, a Drotops Trilobite I picked up recently at a store in Lincoln City, Oregon.
I have a few others as well.

Does any one here have honeybees? I'm thinking about getting some next spring and want some advice.

They might sting

Try to avoid getting stung too much as you can develop anaphylactic allergy to the bees. Invest in a good bee jacket or a full suit. I tend to use gloves and a straw hat style veil with carpenter pants and double layers of shirts. Look into different breeds as some can be more aggressive (at the benefit of being more productive). Carniolans or Italians are pretty bro tier.
Research your local beekeeping laws and contact your local bee club, most places have one. See if there's any beekeeping courses or anyone willing to pass on their experience.
What do you know about beekeeping?

When looking at the breeding lineage so far this is probably what the normal GSD will look like in 20 years

Can this troupe of dogbros survive a month in the wilderness all by themselves?
Replace two with an American bulldog and a cat then they might be ok for awhile.

Might even find their old owners again.
Most likely yes. Dogs who were abandoned after cities had to be evacuated for whatever reason have been found years later roaming in packs. This even happened around Pripyat after Chernobyl despite the radiation weakening them badly.

Need a better pic and an age please. Looks relatively young.
Hey guys, I'm gonna tell you a story, and I want you to tell me what your thoughts are on this.
Several months ago, some friends found a dog in the forest. It looked kinda like the dog in the pic, but uglier, he had one ear ripped off, riddled with worms and fleas, all skin and bones, etc etc.
These friends already had a dog so they couldn't look after it, so I offered to foster it. I took him to the vet, gave him all the medical treatment he needed, even neutered him, all out of my pocket. The dog made a fine recovery, and it turns out he was a really good dog too: house trained, responded to commands, used with walks on a lead and hanging out with other people and dogs (even got along with my cats), no barking, no chewing your stuff, no doing neurotic stuff while being left home alone, even though he's a hunting dog mix. He clearly belonged to someone who didn't want him anymore for some reason. I tried to find his owners for a while, but nobody wanted him, so I tried my best to look after him.
Now here's where it gets tricky: I don't want a dog. I am not a dog person. I looked after him and put him back on his feet because I felt sorry for the poor fucker, but ultimately I was hoping I would find him a home. So I went around to all these adoption groups in my area and asked people if anyone wants to adopt a fully functional dog. The answer was not only no, but people also started accusing me of being a piece of shit for not wanting to keep the dog. As if keeping a dog is mandatory if you have the financial means, and it doesn't take into account whether you wanted a dog in the first place or not. Obviously there's no way to reason with PETA-tier 'animal lovers', so I dropped it.
So now I am stuck with a dog I don't want, all because I did a good deed several months back. It's not the dog's fault, so I'm not going to throw him out in the street again, but at the same time, I kinda regret taking him in in the first place.
Does this make me a bad person?
>>2462927
>Does this make me a bad person?
No, I don't think so. You helped a dog that was in trouble, and you're trying to find him a home where he will be appreciated. Fostering dogs isn't that uncommon anyway, and foster homes aren't supposed to be the dog's permanent home. I'm a little surprised the adoption groups were that hostile and unhelpful about your situation, they should've at least thought about the dog's best and put some effort into helping him.
Did you tell people your story and they attacked you after that, or did they just make assumptions about you after they heard you're trying to find a new home for an adult dog? Either way, I've noticed on internet's animal communities that animal lovers tend to be pretty judgemental and holier-than-thou about these things. They're very eager to find flaws in how other people handle animals, and attack them harshly for it.
Good luck, I hope you can find the dog a new home.
Found these kittens, anyone know how old they are so i know if i need to feed them formula
No. Please take them to your local animal shelter.
>>2462891
They don't look like larvae so they probably don't need formula, however I'm just some random anon. Take them to the vet asap.
>>2462891
I've cared for kittens around that age before, they can usually eat canned food. Kittens around that age sometimes have difficulty figuring out it's food without their mother to watch and emulate however, so if they aren't biting take them to the vet.
SO I'm adopting this dog most likely this weekend, but I'm highly curious as to his breed. They're saying "Chesapeake Bay Retriever & Shepherd mix." However, he looks ABSOLUTELY nothing like a CBR, as they have curls and are always brown. He looks like a chow mixed with a Shepherd of some kind.
Either way, I love him and his mixed breed, but I'm wondering if anyone more experinced could possibly identify his breed. Because the shelter made an "educated guess" and I'm just not seeing it, haha.
Thanks!
and here's his profile
and here's the google results for Chesapeake bay retrievers. I'm not saying he isn't one, but man I'm really not seeing it. He's entirely black, white patch, NO curls, and totally fluffy. were they high or am I just dog-retarded?
anyone?
Does your dog have a Facebook account?
And if not, why the hell not?
My dog already has 4chan platin membership

Because I don't have one either.
