Post mirrored animals ITT
double-headed spider doe
>grows into a beautiful creature
>but mouth is sealed, thus cannot eat
>must have sex before it dies of hunger
what was the evolutionary purpose of this?
Absolute motivation.
They didn't live long anyway, so there is no point for them to be distracted with eating. It's an incredibly successful thing in insects to have adults who basically just fuck and then die.
>>2312176
They could probably live for 3 months if they ate though.
Having 90 days to mate vs 3 seems much more beneficial. It could also mean mating multiple times.
Anyone who abuses an animal for their own pleasure is a piece of shit. I don't think many here will disagree.
What about people who enjoy watching animals hung or fight? In the wild of course - no actual fighting rings? What if a human were to lure another animal to their death?
My friend and I got into a debate about this. The video that prompted it was of a swamp / bayou tour in New Orleans where the crew lured a pig to its death by throwing marshmallows into the water. I would post the link but I don't want to get b&.
>>2312159
it was a wild boar and they are an invasive species very damaging to the ecosystem. the people did it for the wrong reason, but it was actually a good thing
>>2312560
hell, if it was the tour crew who did it, they probably knew the boars were fucking up the swamp and did it for the right reason
>>2312560
this
It was a shitty way to go about something that needs to be done
I've been chased by those fucking things out in the woods along the amite river here in louisiana. The feral boars need to be culled but the swamp boat people were most likely doing it to be faggots.
hey my dog died a couple days ago, and everyone around me is really sad about it, but ive had no reaction. Am I a bad person?
>>2312105
No, but most likely a bit aspie. Or youre not an animal person, as long as you arent happy it died, and as long as you didnt kill it youre fine. I am the same way for me death is just a part of life and shouldnt be grieved over. I prefer to remember the good times and at the most celebrate the life they led. Dont beat yourself up op, everyone is different.
>>2312105
No my boy, you're simply autistic.
>>2312105
honestly youre probably autistic, and i mean that in a non-memeing non-bullying way.
Redpill me on neutering /an/
I have a six month old male kitten whom I absolutely adore. He is so friendly and energetic. I don't want his personality or fitness to change when the cut his balls off. He is an indoor cat.
Can anyone who is familiar with cats give me the pros and cons of neutering. He hasn't sprayed anywhere yet as far as I can tell, but I know there are other things involved.
Also I feel like castration is just a barbaric thing in general.
pic related: it's my puss
do you cry when you see a herd of steer too?
quit anthropomorphizing, your beast is your property and it's your job to take care of it and that includes making sure it doesn't breed every female cat in the vicinity. If you can keep it inside, all the better to you. If not, snip.
>>2312080
for context I work with cats
>I don't want his personality to change
that's a meme
>fitness to change
if you feed him correctly and bother to play with him a proper amount then you're fine. Neutering a cat doesn't magically make them fat. lack of exercise and too many calories does that
>He hasn't sprayed anywhere yet as far as I can tell
he's not even a year old yet, he's still almost certainly going to do it in the future
he will be less likely to show aggression, more likely to get along with any other animal you may introduce to the house in the future, less potential litterbox issues, less likely to try and run away, more likely to come back if he does run off, less stress, less potential health issues, etc etc. not to mention that if you ever have to move, renting with an unfixed male animal is an absolute bitch. Plus rehoming him if it ever came down to that would be a lot easier.
there really isn't a reason to not fix your cat except you anthropomorphizing him in thinking that he gives a fuck about his balls or even is aware of their existence
What should I do if there's a ram that won't stop attacking me and there aren't any high places to climb, any places to hide and no rope to tie it? How do you get a ram to stop attacking you?
1. Buy helmet
2. Win battle

what do you guys think of wild dog x domestic dogs? like dingo x, wolf x, etc
>>2311720
My old Bitch had half coyote pups, they were fun little guys
I managed to find them all good homes
Most people are apprehensive about their dog having a wild parent but honestly i thinks its all in how you raise them, make sure the bitch is the tame one
>>2311722
Yeah, it's no surprise, domestic dogs are literally just wolves that have been inbred to the point they are all autists that psychologically never leave their puppyhood. (not that I'm dissing dogs, I grew up with them my whole life, love the shit out of them, even when they shed everywhere!)
I remember watching a documentary where they compared the problem solving skills of pure wolves to that of domestic dogs. They placed treats inside of a box the first round, and both dogs and wolves figured it out lickity split and got the treats. Then during the second round they attached the treats to a rope essentially making it impossible to remove.
The wolves never gave up, they kept trying to remove the treats, and yes they became incredibly frustrated, but they kept trying over and over again.
But the domestic dogs all gave up after a short while and kept returning to their owners begging for the treats.
>>2311727
that seems like an awful test. what dogs were used? also not all dogs are wolf derivatives and not all dogs are retarded, i think its mainly smaller dogs that are mentally challenged and act immature all the time
Cat is best pet. But,
Earliest pet?

>>2311519
I heard those can be aggressive.
>>2311519
that cat in the video is long dead.
Bastards waited till the end to rip your feels out barehanded.
>>2311583
Not a cat, bro.
But yeah. I don't doubt the poor thing died a brutal death shortly after.
saw this thing this morning in my garden
its white with black tail spot and it lives underground
anyone got an idea what it is?
im living in germany and its pretty cold here atm if it helps
>>2311338
It's a stoat.
>>2311345
should i do something about it? will it die ? or can i just leave it there
i dont mind it desu but if he cant survive here i would call animal service?
My pupa fell off the stem it was supporting. Should I leave it as it is or do something?
>>2310544
it's fine as long as it stays dry.
I don't think you can do much for it other than make sure it's safe, in a wide enough space to allow the butterfly to emerge and spread it's wings, and not exposed to trauma.
>>2310610
Also I have no clue what species that is or it's pupating habits are.
But having some sugar water or slices of orange for nectar if you plan to keep it for a while after it emerges would be a thing to consider.
Also insects go through this period rather quickly at room temperature.

She was soooo pretty!
>>2310531
do you have a pic of her once she grew up ? ^^
>>2310531
And then she grow up (still beautiful! )
How many of you guys here have possibly seen a thylacine or know someone who claims they saw one? Out of all the cryptids, this one has the highest chance of still being alive.
Sightings occur in Tasmanias rugged and remote and sparsely populated West Coast region
But its range was on the opposite side of the island, the North East which is now well settled
I just got back from a holiday in Tasmania, camped and bushwalked through the West Coast
Yes it is remote
But people do live there
And there is plenty of tourism
And it wasn't its habitat despite
I'm shit at ecology so please correct me. I'd say there should be at least 500 of those to be alive to survive this 1930-2017 gap of official extinction status to create "a sighting" right? why those people even bother
>>2310462
you don't know what cryptid means
>http://www.hsi.org/news/press_releases/2017/02/hunting-economic-impact-report-020117.html
>b-b-but trophy hunting actually helps them make money!
Well duh, not that it matters, the only thing you can do to save the animals at this point is remove the Africans.
>>2309483
>b-b-but trophy hunting actually helps them make money
It does more for them than what you have ever done.
Unless of course you believe that making threads on a Mongolian basket weaving forum makes a fucking difference.

You forgot the chinks m8, NEVER forget the chinks.
hi /an/
My male cat seems very tense. We live in an apartment and he does not have a chance to go outside (we really do our best to play as much as we can with him, he is rarely alone, and he has an access to a balcony) the problem is he seems to want to go outside, during the day he has episodes where he will stand infront of the front door and meow for few minutes, but the real problem I'm concerned with is that from time to time he seems to shake when he is relaxing. His muscles are very tense, I can feel it when he is laying on my lap. Has any of you ever had this experience?
>PS this is him
Bumping the thread with his majesty
Anyone here like crptos and/or mythological creatures? Any favorites or especially interesting ones? Hope this isn't too /x/-related.
My favorite is Mothman.
