Our cat is normally lazy, likes to lie on her back when sleeping, and meows a lot all the time, be it because she wants food, want to be pet, etc.
But since 2 days she hardly ever meows, most sits like the cat on the picture and doesn't really lie on her back, and generally seems more lethargic than usual.
She still eats normally, enjoyd being pet, poops normally and doesn't seem to have any spot that hurts when being touched.
We'll be going to the vet if she's still this lethargic on Monday.
Should we be worried? What could have caused this sudden change in behavior?
How old is she?
If she was a kitten until recently, cats tend to change their bahaviour rather suddenly when growing up.
Other than that, I must honestly say that people who can't/don't want to grant their cat access to the outdoors should not complain if their cat behaves disturbed.

i hate cats a lot for a variety of reasons and can't stand to be near them
how do i deal with this since every pleb on this planet feels the need to share their life with one?

Tell them to get real pets
I mean, you're allowed to not like something obviously. But if you want to not live a life of anger towards a single creature then education is the best bet. Learn more about cats and why they do the things they do. Understanding them more could help you at least tolerate them a bit better. Know that you can't just compare them to dogs or any other animal and that they just need to be respected for what they are. And a lot of the times people say a cat is aggressive it's because they're doing something wrong with it and refuse to understand it better in order to live peacefully together. Just throwing some examples out there - I don't know what your actual issues are.
In the end, people like different kinds of pets because they suit their lifestyles better (unless you're the kind of person who doesn't know what they're doing). If you think of it that way, it might help.

I actually like cats and dogs pretty equally. But more than anything, I'm a rabbit person I guess.
>>2342030
I just tell them, your cat is so cute and sweet but sorry not a cat person. If their cat won't leave me alone and they don't tend to it I go outside. I say gonna go grab some fresh air maybe then he will loose interest.
What's hard is when you keep getting invited over to dinner. I won't eat at someone's house with a cat unless I help cook so I can disinfect all the surfaces as discreetly as possible. In and out of litter boxes then jumping on counters is my biggest problem with them.
My dog may walk outside but he doesn't walk on eating surfaces.
Hey /an/
Getting these two ratto boys today, what should their names be?
Rocket and Bumbus.
Cruz and Missile
Mimi and Jack
Do you guys neuter your pets?
Bird neutering only happens with chickens. The rest of us just have to do the fake eggs + abort the fertilized egg thing.
Only if I don't plan on having sex with them.
No, I like my dog.
My cat is a beautiful girl and I love her to death. But she follows me everywhere and I love that. But she mainly follows me into the bathroom and if I don't let her in, she scratches the door until I open it. she does this all the time. Even in the middle of the night. And she's a loud outspoken cat so I have to let her in so she doesn't wake anyone up with her meowing. Does anyone else's cat do this? Picture not related. My cat is a pure black cat

>My cat is a beautiful girl and I love her to death.

Shes camera shy. Every time she sees a camera she hisses and stuff. She's been like that since she was a kitten.
>>2341810
Lmao OP
I want a macaw so bad. Any large macaw. I'm afraid since I work full time, and I don't really socialize with anyone much, I wouldn't be a good enough owner. It bums me out every day.
They also need another bird partner.
Same goes for me because I do not have time for a dog because of my job.
>>2341698
I want hamsters but I'm gone for like 10 hours a day and terrified my pupper will try and get in their cage while I'm out.
Post more pictures of this cat.
Gonna dump what I have.
Why do all dogs like butt scratches?

Show me a dog that can effectively scratch it's own butt and I'll show you one who isn't longing for some butt scratching.

Putting my dog to sleep today
How do you guys deal with the pain?
>>2341565
Live through it. Accept it. Eventually you'll come around, it's just a phase of grief.
I'm very sorry for your doggo, anon. Why is he being put to sleep?
>>2341568
Its a girl
She's 13 with a tumor and just recently lost use of her back legs, I don't want her to suffer anymore
You'll be OK in time
I wish to forcibly accelerate evolution and create something..new. I was thinking of using guppies, since they're known to breed and grow very rapidly. Maybe even Mollies. But I need a purpose. What should I try to evolve them into or change about them? I'd like to keep them as fishes, transforming them to amphibious creatures would be both arduous and boring, also it's been done to death (mudskippers, catfishes with lungs etc).
Evolving guppies to grow fancy goldfish sized is a worthy goal, if a bit unimaginative. I always wished they were bigger so their fins would be more visible. If anyone has better ideas, or advice on how to do this I'm open to suggestions.
>>2341036
It wouldn't be evolution. What it sounds like you wanna do is selective breeding. Find the biggest male and female. Breed em and cull any small ones. Doesn't sound possible though.
You're not "accelerating evolution", you're selective breeding. You don't have the lifetimes it takes to achieve speciation of a higher species.
What you are describing is creating a breed of large guppies. It's been done before. If you want to achieve speciation then culture microorganisms.
>>2341045
>>2341048
>selective breeding.
Isn't that just a layman's term for man made evolution?
>Find the biggest male and female. Breed em and cull any small ones
While that in theory might work, I think it'd be more favorable to manipulate their environment too, so that it forces the biggest of them to have an advantage over the small ones. The question is how.
It'd also be worth researching what makes various species grow bigger. Island gigantism comes to mind, but otherwise I'm drawing a blank here.
>What you are describing is creating a breed of large guppies. It's been done before
Really? Fascinating. Do you have any materials related to it?
What happened here?
>>2341005
Sometimes I feel like they've just been constantly accidentally playing the wrong shows for the last 5 to 10 years, and one day somebody's just going to say, "oops" and turn the correct stuff back on.

Surprisingly human happened.
Seriously, I don't go to Animal Planet to watch people build tree houses, build pools, look for gold, or enforce the law. I go to it to watch stuff about ANIMALS, plain and simple.
How and why did they mess this up so badly?
What's their endgame?
Extinction.

I was walking back to my apartment last night when I saw several bats fly overhead. They reminded me of how much I love bats, and how they don't get enough love
>>2339813
Agreed. They are neat to watch. I've had them fly right to me and even buzzed me a few times on occasion. So sad that white-nose disease is hitting them hard. We're just starting to see examples of this in my region.
>>2339813
I have a colony of endangered brown bats roosting in an old barn on my property. I get to watch them in the evenings, and enjoy a mosquito free environment.
In process of applying for a grant from Purdue University, turns out they will either pay me directly, or provide a tax break for ensuring that nobody fucks with the colony. It's a win/win.

I love bats but seeing or hearing one always reminds me of something that happened once
>be 11 years old
>on summer holiday with family, rented a house with a farm and a pool for around a week
>one day, at the pool
>nighttime slowly comes around, but water felt too nice and didn't feel like coming out
>start hearing bats, seeing them fly all over
>they start reaching to the water to catch bugs on the surface
>PANIC. gif
>5 minutes of little me screaming and swimming all over the place until I get the courage to get out
