Rats were some of THE BEST pets I've ever owned. They are so social and love to cuddle up to their owners.
Why in the Hell do these cute little guys get such a bad rap??
Because they control the banks and diamonds.
>>2364665
Because wild rats are a constant pest, they spread diseases and damage buildings and ruin food.

TAKE IT TO THE FUCKING VET HOLY SHIT.
1. You are fucking retarded, take it to the vet right now dumbass.
2. I think i've seen that face before...
>>2385054
i dont have money for a vet i already have a 2thousand dollar medical bill im paying.
So here I am sitting on the couch and this little bastard in pic related is crawling on the arm of it.
What is this thing? I live in NYC and this would be the first time i've seen it here but it looks like a tick.
Do any of you have an idea or more information?
Thanks in advance. This thing is tiny and has an isometric pattern on its shell.
I've been feeling itchy and a little fatigued. I just hope its not lime. My aunt is also itchy as hell but the doctor says its a fungus.
My university's koi pond froze over during the winter and all the fish died. Apparently the heater failed in January and nobody realized until it was too late.
I'm honestly really choked up, I used to visit the fish every day when I had class in the building beside the pond. I even got fish food so I could feed them this year.
A mouse got into my house. Too much overgrown brush on the side of MYHOUSE plus the kids leaving the back door open all the time. Little guy lived behind the stove, and came out to wander the kitchen at night.
I insisted on a live catch trap, even though his presence in my kitchen fully offended and disgusted me.
I had the trap up for 4 days right in the spot where he would emerge. And NOTHING. Peanut butter and kix cereal. I figured the trap was a bust.
So I left it out when we went out of town for 4 days. Camen back to a dead body. Sorry little guy. I wanted to set you free.
>>2384256
Same as you but I had to walk past this when I went to class. Winter doesn't exist here so they will never die.
These guys would fight by the entrance of my university parking garage so no one could get out till they were done.
>>2384259
You're lucky, we have Canada geese nesting all over the campus right now.
Are there any good books you guys can recommend for understanding biology/zoology? I'm looking to expand my knowledge of animals/plants. What are good texts to learn from that are also pretty casual/entertaining?
Pic related, I'm specifically interested in the relationships between different families of animals.
Bumping for interest.

I'll give this a bump for interest and also request some literature on horticulture, if possible?

Neil Shubin- "Your Inner Fish"
Are there any pets without fur or feathers that show affection?
I'm allergic. I have owned fish and a turtle before but am wondering if there is anything more social with humans.
>inb4 shave a cat
It's the dander and saliva enzyme thingies I'm allergic to
>>2382611
Argentine tegus.
>>2382611
Affection is just what humans project onto their animals. A dog doesn't really love you no more than a cat loves you.
>>2382631
kek
ok, catfag, science shows us otherwise
So I just got a 250 gallon tank, it was used to raise salmon for school kids to see, what should I do with it? Any recommendations?
>>2378094
Fill it with ice and beers
>>2378094
Raise salmon obviously.
Cool pets and delicious meat all in one. My uncle did that.
FILL IT FULL OF DIRT AND PLANTS
THEN USE IT TO RAISE FIRE ANTS
250 GALLONS OF FIRE ANTS
1. Hungry
2. What am I looking at? Doesn't looks like anything lives here.
Just looks like a bit of drywall, OP. Nothing to worry about.

>Week three: The humans have grown suspicious. Requesting extraction.
Our cat was loving going outside, but one time he didn't come back for 2 nights. My dumb bitch stepmom freaked out and refuses to let the cat out now, and my faggot dad is just going to let this happen because he is too low energy to care about anything in his fucking life. Poor cat is now a slave, desperately looking out the window as he meows at us to let him go outside. It's a beautiful day and there are interesting smells and activities outside. Poor cat is in Meowschwitz.
This cat is fucking going outside one way or another, but I'd like some ideas. If I deliberately do it, stepmom will flip shit and dad won't do much about it. I think if I go such a route I need to "accidentally" do it. Then dad would take my side more, I can already see the argument in my head. There are coyotes around at night, so there's a small but important risk of our cat dying if he doesn't come back in time. I'm not sure if our cat will return once let out, we do give him treats and a nice perch on the window and good kibble (researched it) and pet him and all that good shit. But I wonder if he will not return, considering he's been a slave. If I "accidentally" let our cat loose, he may think he will have had to escape, not that I let him go on purpose.
I'm not sure what the "best" option is here. What do you think I should do for our cat?
Put a leash on your cat and go out with him, like a dog. Seriously. This way he won't go away, and you can bring him home with you. If you are with him, there is no risk, so your stepmom should be OK with it. Also, you can put a chip on your cat, just in case he disappears for some reason. This way it will be easier to find him.
Also, I really don't approve that you let your cat out of home at night if you have coyotes in the area. Its dangerous, he could get hurt.
>>2383889
I don't want to let him at night with coyotes, it's just that last time he stayed out too long. As far as walking my cat with a leash, I really don't want to. We could chip him, I suppose, and just let him out in the morning so there's plenty of time before night. How does the chip work? Where do they put it, and will it be visible?
>>2383895
Your cat has the same cognition and awareness as a human? Interesting.
To answer your question, it goes in loose skin near the shoulder blades and no, it is not visible on the outside.
My gf's cat will walk up to you roll over and lay there staring at whoever she is next to, if you try to pet her she'll scratch and try and bite you but doesn't make any aggressive noises, almost like its playing
If you play with her with one of those toys attached to a string attached to a stick toys she'll claw at the toy and do cat things but eventually see your arm as an extension of the toy and go for that
She'll bit and scratch your feet if they're dangling off a bed or couch
she'll pet herself with items in the house next to you and move close to you like it wants to be pet but scratches and bites if you do
she turned 1 year old this month so she's somewhat young
any idea why its this way?
pic not related but it looks like it
She's trying to play and hasn't learned not to play with your flesh yet
Young kitty doesn't know how to properly play yet. Don't be aggressive about it but show her that flesh is not a thing to be mean to.
>>2382720
How do you teach them to "properly play with flesh"?
>>2382733
again how do you do this? I try petting her and the second she claws at me I pull my hand away and I firmly say something like "No ____" I don't yell it or even say it in a raised voice, I just make it clear and slightly louder than my regular voice
Why don't you like pitbulls, /an/?
