Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size (include dimensions, not just volume)
-parameters (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH, GH, KH)
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

I'm thinking of breeding and selling sulawesi cardinal shrimp. My water is extremely hard AND I live in a desert area so it's hot here most of the year without needing a heater
Good idea? Would I make any profit? Worth it?
>>2383526
Enjoy your algae
>>2383530
Cardinals are rad yo.
imo I think the red lines would garner more profit simply because they're cooler.
Post your doggers
ok

that's a weird looking dog
He likes to eat oranges
Does this trigger /an/? I knocked down a wasp nest that was almost ready to hatch. As you can see, there are almost hatched babies inside. And now they are food for the ants.

Beautiful
Well preserved dinosaur fossils are extremely fascinating because they look similar to the creature when it lived
The Nodosaur fossil looks so life like, yet has been buried for millions of years
Crazy cool
Its literally like a statue of a dinosaur

/herp/ reptile classifieds for finding breeders of various scaled and sundry creatures
>kingsnake.com
>faunaclassifieds.com
>reptilescanada.com (Canadian breeders)
>Also check to see if there are any annual reptile shows/expos in your area as these are good places to find good animals from good breeders at partial discount
/herp/ officially official all purpose care sheet of wonder and magic
>sand a shit
>use a thermostat
>read all the caresheets
>set up your tank before you get your herp
>regulate temps & humidity levels prior to herp arrival
>do not fuck with (handle) your herp for at least 7 days after bringing it home and ideally wait until herp has eaten at least one meal (for snakes), two meals for lizards, frogs, etc.
>PVC tanks are way better for most applications and worth the extra money
>it is best to avoid chain pet stores when looking to purchase live animals as mass breeder suppliers are not especially careful about health and sound genetics... it often saves you money long term to spend a little extra up front to get a healthy animal
>Jump Start (formerly Hydrofarm) thermostat is a good basic and inexpensive thermostat for regulating ceramic heat emitters and under tank heaters (Amazon sells it)
>if you want something more advanced for temperature control, look at Herpstat products
question from end of old thread:
>Whenever I visit the reptile exhibit at the local zoo the mambas are the only snakes that consistently come up to the window, flick their tongues out at patrons, and try to scale the glass. Is it just their prey drive or are they easier to condition to expect food from humans? Or is it strangely displayed aggression?
Mambas have a strong feeding response, inquisitive behaviour traits, and are also pretty aggressive. It's a combination of all of those.
my cat and Iggy don't get a long, they often hurt each other pretty bad, and now my cat has a broken leg but I cant afford the vet
should I get rid of one?
or how can I make sure they behave?

I said pls keep the shitposting to a minimum k thnx.
Every day until you want one. Im going to post platypuses until all of an wants a puggle for cuddles. Also platypus threads are usually pretty good at both content and mild shitposting so there's that.

Oh god is this what we've truly become? Want status do not. you've got your work cut out OP.
>>2291984
Day 120 status want
Have you ever even seen a platypus in real life? They're not all that great
I don't know what to do. I got a pupper yesterday and he's great but I'm already regretting adopting him. This fucking dog; he's too energetic, pisses everywhere, whines in his crate, won't sleep, and he bites on my hand.
>>2380367
Have some patience and train the little shit. Its a living being, not an accessory. Its probably still stressed out from the move, and doesn't feel that you are on the same pack. It takes time.
>>2380372
Yeah, patience. You're not wrong
>>2380376
If its energetic let it out of the house or teach it to stop. Calm down, grab its snout, wait for it to calm down, they produce a sound that you would like to be a sign for it to calm down.
The food denial exercise is a good training for it to know who's boss.
Name something that can defend itself against a group of 5 orca whales in the water

An aircraft carrier.
A mine

One orca hops on top to sink it

This afternoon i was walking to the nearest grocery store and suddenly i noticed this little puppy crossing the road alone so i decided to pick him up once at home i gave him some food and milk i live in Morocco and in our city there isnt a center for stray dogs also if i had left him there some dumb driver would end up running over him, what should i do ? srry for my bad english.
Do you want the puppy? Also, only give goat or cow milk as a very rare treat.
If you don't want it, use social media to find someone who does.
Are there many veterinarians in your area? When you have enough funds and time, take him for a check up and vaccines and ask the doctor for advice.
What a lovely puppy. He looks kind of like a rottweiler.
I already own 2 guinea pigs so i don't mind having a puppy but i don't know how to deal with it because i never had one, i don't use facebook also i don't trust people that much i still remember the story of my friend who had a dog that he gave to someone for free then the next owner treated him badly and he died afterwards i don't think that i'll have the courage to give this puppy he's so playful and keeps licking my hands at this right moment he's sleeping on my bed, veterinarians in my area don't have any clue when it comes to dogs since my friend who owned the dog had to travel everytime whenever his dog ended up sick or needed a vaccine so i think that i'll have to travel too for the check up by the way could you tell the breed of this puppy ? I decided to name him Max
What kind of spider is this
>>2385693
You gotta say where you live, nigger. Looks like a texas brown but if you live in guatemala or egypt its probably not
Looks like a golden red rump tarantula to me. Mature male probably. Where do you live though, that would help a lot.

A hairy one
Any suggestions for a dog similar in size/adorableness to a corgi that isn't genetically fucked up? I don't want to drop $5k on back surgery.
Beagles are about the same adult size. They're a couple inches taller and weigh slightly less than adult corgies. Healthy breed as far as I am aware.
>>2385661
Why not get a corgi?
Cairn terrier
Hey guys, there's a bird posting at my front door. For almost a week now. Anyone know what variety of avian dinosaur this might be? Brown pigeon is my best guess :P
Already put some water in a bottle cap near it. Any food I can give it? I think the father went to get some cigarettes from the convenience but never came back :(
>>2385526
It's a Mourning Dove. It's an adult, so just don't disturb it. It's probably incubating it's eggs.
>>2385532
>Mourning Dove
Thanks, i'll look it up. Yea, its sitting on a couple of eggs. I won't disturb it.
Leave the dove alone. You'll stress it and risk abandonment if it believes it's eggs are beyond hope.
Please help. I am going nuts trying to identify this tree.
Lake Erie, Pennsylvania.
Following are pictures of leaves, leaf cluster, catkins
I thought maybe it was aspen by the leaves but I dont know very much about trees. Im told it turns red in autumn.

Hi,
So I have a 15 year old domestic short hair that has had anal gland problems since I adopted him 14 years ago. He is now straining in the litter box unable to defecate. He'll try and then give up and his butt will be poking out and then he'll puke and try again and usually it passes.
I've been to the vet and there's no abdominal obstruction. He is slightly dehydrated but still within normal range. I give him raw food because he has pancreatitis and dry food makes him puke. I've tried at least a dozen different fibre/stool supplements but none seem to work. (Pumpkin, psyllium husk, various health food and drug store types, hair ball chews, olive oil... )
He puked four times last night (he always pukes twice in a row) and was straining and gave up and wanted to lie down and I petted him and he was growling at me and then went again and puked more and then walked around upset and then went again and was able to pass.
He scoots a lot and sometimes has plugged anal glands but not always. They are not infected.
I have no idea what to do and the vet has nothing else but very expensive tests/x ray/ultrasounds that I'm not able to afford.
Any ideas?
Why do you own a cat if you are not able to afford the vet? Try to solve this problem first.
>very expensive tests/x ray/ultrasounds
Unfortunately, this is it
>>2385386
>Why do you own a cat if you are not able to afford the vet?
$75 to see the vet I can handle, $5000 for scans and tests, not so much.

A university colleague of mine was working of a VR environment for spiders. They were in this back projected dome place on a rotating ball. Dunno whatever came out of that research.
