Hey /an/ all three of my cats have fleas and they're driving me crazy. Obviously they've had fleas before but it's never gotten out of control like it has now. I have one outdoor cat and she's the one that brings them in, but as soon as I notice she has them, I treat all of them (flea pill, then next day spot on treatment and flea bomb the house, washing all fabric...) and an outbreak has never lasted more than a week.

While the outdoor cat is being treated, she's kept inside until she's clean and the repellent is working to ensure she doesn't bring in more straight away.

I don't know if it's the sudden hot weather we're having in the UK is to blame, or the treatments I use just aren't effective any more for whatever reason but it's become a real uphill battle and the little fuckers just aren't dying.

I've used frontline spot on, 4fleas pills and 4fleas flea bombs. I've tried advantage but can't remember if it was any good...also tried beaphar products, flea powder...
What active ingredient is the best in your opinion? What products work for you?

tl;dr
>cats have fleas, do not want

Had this problem with my cat OP, he liked to go outside but would attract many fleas which then spread to our other indoor pets. He was also allergic to the flea bites so we stopped letting him out altogether. But your doing what you should, treat them and also vacuuming helpsas well. Problem is with multiple pets they spread like wildfire and are annoying to deal with. Keep at it OP if it doesn't die down in about a week youll prolly have to wait till the weather changes for them to be completely gone.
>>
>>2392316
Thanks dude, yeah I am vacuuming every day but still...I think my only other option is to ask a vet if they can suggest anything else. I think the outdoor cat could get prescribed a flea collar (not a shop-bought one) when she's allowed back outside, which might help?

Hello, this is my beautiful and wonderful cat, Squidly. He's 3 years old, I've had him and his sister, Marbles, since they were tiny baby kittens. They live in a house with two other cats. Oreo, 8 years old, and Mama, possibly 4 years old.
Squidly is my problem cat. For nearly his entire life, He's been peeing wherever he wants. He'll pee on couches, counters, the sink, towels, anything! It's gotten so bad that he's confined in a room that I've covered in carpet tape, to ensure that he doesn't ruin the carpet. He's only allowed out if he can be supervised, which means that he's only out for 9 hours a day, while I'm home and awake. This isn't the ideal situation for him, I need to fix his pee problem asap so that he can get on with his life. To make matters worse... I had a baby 7 months ago. The two get along fine, but I can't have my baby exposed to so much cat piss. We had to move from our old house once realizing that I was pregnant, because the house was so soaked with cat piss. Windows had to be kept open 24/7 and no one would visit due to the smell. Trying to avoid that with our new house at all costs.
I've taken him to the vet to be checked for crystals, which the vet said that he does have. But it's such a small amount that makes her believe that it's not the crystals contributing to the pee issue at all. We have four litterboxes in the cat room, and three other litter boxes around the house. I'm also looking for a new home for him, but it's difficult due to him being so bonded with his sister. No one wants two cats, one of who has pee issues.
Any other advice? Anything that I'm missing?
Pic related - it's of them when they were first rescued. Their cat mama abandoned them & got hit by a car.

They're just recently hatched orbweaver spiderlings. Leave them alone and they'll disperse.

Where can I buy small dead animals and parts for practicing taxidermy?
I'd rather not buy live animals just to euthanize them.

Amateur taxidermist here. If you live in the US or Europe, there are dozens of fur wholesalers who can provide you with prepared skins. A quick Google should give you some.

Alternately you could phone your local professional taxidermist and ask for an apprenticeship. Mine was very nice and offered to give me some animals from her freezer to take home.

Just drive along the highway in poorer, more rural areas. You'll find cats, dogs, racoons, ect free for the taking.

Ya I live in a "poorer, more rural" area and those critters STINK.

They just lack compassion, maybe they will regret when they are old and alone. Who knows?

The fact that it was in front of a kid makes it even more disturbing. She should be made an example of.

Really these people shouldn't even live because they're always going to be trouble.

This cat.
This cat rear looks suspicious, I mean just look at that rear, I've never seen a cats genitalia to get that prominent.
Is it possible that this cat had been sexually abused to the point of looking like that?

What is the point of the gnat? Does it even have a purpose? They're tiny and annoying as hell. They get into all of your food, but even then they don't even do anything, they just sit there. They have defense mechanisms. They don't even carry disease like flies. Their larva don't even move and are extremely easy to kill.
But what are /an/'s thoughts on the gnat?

Anon, can you tell, what kind of bird (if any) produces the sound, that you can hear in picrelated?
sample vid --> https://expirebox.com/download/efadce09828b538b846941e5b367298c.html

They call it a "golden heron" in the cartoon (btw it's great and you should totally watch it), but I swear, I haven't yet found any single type of heron (or crane, for that matter) singing in that way.
All i know, this sound is commonly used in japanese media (games/cartoons)

Tried to ask /co/, but to no avail
I'm desperate to find the source of that sound.

Long story short, lost my job a little over a year ago, had a massive mental breakdown that I've still not completely recovered from. I'm unemployable and on benefits. It's taken five months to even get my rent assistance approved. I've had to file for bankruptcy and all that horseshit.

I keep a pair of 22 months old doe rats, who are often the only things that get me up of a morning. I've an awesome vet who lets me work off my debts for the little attention whoring hypochondriacs by scrubbing hospital cages. But in the last few weeks things have gotten lumpy. Behind the foreleg and just starting under one of the hind legs, to be specific. I've two does. One of them has sprouted lumps. The lumps can be removed fairly easily, assuming that there aren't any complications, but the vet has to charge me cash for this operation. I've enough money to cover it but it will completely clean me out. And lumpy girl is going to keep growing lumps as well, and very quickly at that.

At twenty two months and what will be the first of several surgeries, is it worth it? Not just financially, but also for my girl. Her relationship with her sister is another complication; they've bonded so strongly I don't expect either of them to hang around very long when the other dies, even if I introduce some kittens into the cage right now.

Yeah, I know. Don't keep pets unless you can afford them. But so far I've managed it even if I can't get the smell of guinea pig out of my car. And like I said, they're the ones who get me out of bed.

Idk OP you tell me if its worth it
>>
honestly OP, even if you do the surgery, you will likely find new lumps within a week or two. thats the sad part about rats- they are such love but their little lives are short. enjoy your time together but let them go when they are beginning to suffer. Multiple major surgeries are hell on such small though noble beasts.
>>
2 years is about what you can expect out of most rats. I wouldn't do the surgery, personally. You'll probably have another couple months with her depending on how fast the tumors grow. I had a rat who remained happy, social, and reasonably active until his was about baseball-sized.

Sorry OP. For your own sake, consider choosing a pet with a longer lifespan.

I've had my cat for 6 years and he was neutered when I adopted him. He's around 8 now and a few day ago he started humping the bed. When I went to push him away he bit and hissed at me. He's done this everyday since and growls when I try to stop him. He had never done anything like this prior. Other than the humping, he is still eating and using his litter tray like normal.

I googled it and the only answer I really found is that it can be a result of a traumatic event. Though I really don't think that's the case here.

Is there any kind of medical problem that causes aggressive humping as a symptom? He had a clean bill of health at his checkup at the start of the year.
