Life around deep sea vents of Antarctica is fucking awesome
For example, check out these yeti crabs

Aren't they like really endangered because of the black market?
>>2399264
Breeding them as pet is literally saving them right now. These guys are fucking dumb.
>>2399264
no, there are more now than there ever were in the past, they're piss easy to breed. The wild population is fucked because their entire habitat is built over by Mexico city
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS THING?
>>2398549
some sort of spider
>>2398549
This time it's actually a brown recluse
>>2398549
A fuzzy cutiepie.
It looks pissed, OP. What did you do to get it to threat?
Who was in the wrong here?
>>2398281
Is this a joke? The human, of course. Either because he should've known his dog gets aggressive if his food is threatened (literally all dogs do that, even the friendliest) or because he didn't train him not to be.
>>2398281
Fuck off with this bait shit already.
>>2398283
It's not his dog.
He is a dog whisperer
Please help. Urinary Blockage problem.
Around the beginning of May, my cat Merlin (Neutered male, 1.5 yrs) got sick with what we thought was a UTI. We took him into the vet and were given a shot of Convenia, and Buprenorphene. His symptoms were straining in litter box and hissing/growling at us. He was okay for a while. On May 18th, he took a turn for the worse and the same symptoms came back, only worse. I could tell he was in extreme pain so we rushed him to the emergency vet. The vet drew some urine (straight from bladder with syringe) found bacteria and struvites but only a VERY small amount of struvites. He received another shot of Buprenorphene, a 14 day dose of Orbax, and Acepromazine 5mgs every 12 hours. We took him home and he was fine for 14 days. About two days after finishing the Orbax, everything hit him again. I could tell he was in extreme pain. At this point I was able to feel his bladder and it was very firm. We took him in, fearing he was blocked, and he was blocked badly. Our vet had to use a stainless steel tip to unblock him and "never had to use it before this". He got the catheter placed and flushed and he was immediately able to go. He stayed overnight. That was on Wednesday the 31st. He stayed, doing well (no blood, clear urine, only on fluids) Thursday night his CATHETER got blocked overnight. He was in pain all night with his bladder filling until the vet was able to flush it as soon as he came in that morning. I saw him a few hours later and I could tell he was in terrible pain. I held him for two hours, he peed all over me. He continued to do well on the catheter. Saturday morning (around 11am) his catheter was removed, in hopes he would be able to go. He couldn't. He strained all day, was given multiple meds to relax muscles and dissolve stones, nothing helped. Catheter was reinserted sometime later in the day, and he was able to go (it was inserted MUCH easier than the first cath attempt) and that was tonight.
I asked about electrolytes because I was worried about his levels and the possibility of hyperkalemia. They ran the panel and his kidneys are functioning perfectly. I am worried sick about him. I have read every article out there, I am waiting for him to come home but he is not getting better.
Merlins normal diet is 1/4 cup Pure Balance Wild and Free dry food mixed with wet fancy feast medleys. (The half can) twice daily. (With added tablespoon of water.)
He drinks out of our cat water fountain daily.
Please, PLEASE comment with any opinions or advice. I have worked in this veterinary hospital before and I have seen cats come and go when they're blocked, but nothing like this.
Bumping this thread with /can/
This thread is slow as shit. You might not get replies for hours if not a day or two. Calm down
I don't really know what you want from us though. It sounds like you're doing all you can having brought him to the vet and getting him treatment
My dog Max is normally pretty chill but I was walking him tonight and he was rooting around in the bushes for something. It was dark so I couldn't see what it was but I think he ate it. Now he looks dizzy and kind of out of it and he's running away from me when I try to take off his harness. He never acts like this so I'm freaking out. THERE ARE NO VETS OPEN right now. How do I induce vomiting on him to get him to cough up whatever he ate?
Ok, I found advice online for giving him hydrogen peroxide. I'm gonna try and get him to swall some now. Fingers crossed.
I gave him half a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (he's a small dog). Now we're just waiting.... he's shaking a lot and looks very unlike himself...
Good, he's looking like he's about to rolf so I took him downstairs to the basement. The floor is tiled to that will make the mess easier to clean up.
>Getting a cat to use a pet bed
He's not allowed on the furniture and we have hardwood floors so I thought I'd treat him.
I've tried lining it with an old shirt of mine, I let him check it out at his own pace, and it's next to the heater.
I think he's just contrarian and knows I want him to use it. I should punish him next time he uses it and he'll probably use it all the time.

>own cat
>cat not allowed on stuff
>cat rubs asshole on everything while you are not in
Put cat in bed. Pet cat until it doesn't want to be petted anymore or falls asleep.
>>2397531
Does anyone else think cats smell comfy? I'm not talking about their disgusting breath, but how the back of their heads or ears smell. It seems to me most cats have a pleasant, comfy smell.
>>2397568
I do. Warm floofy cat belly.
Why get a cat if you don't let it on furniture. Can't snuggle him on the sofa.. Watch him climb into silly high places. Shit excuse for pet owners

So /an/, my roomates found this little bun abandoned sitting in a freshly mowed lawn. He's so young his eyes aren't open yet. We've been feeding him kitten's milk.
Any advice how how to keep this littl guy alive?
More pictures of him.

Is it just pit bulls that sleep on their backs like that? Mine always did and I've seen others do it, but never any other kind of dog
Tell me /an/, how does it feel knowing that you will never have your favorite animal as a pet.

They're cute, but they're intelligent to a frustrating degree so I'm not too butthurt.
Hey /an/
I found this Pupper near a trash bin yesterday, she has no collar or chip. I own a bit of land and do not mind taking care of her. The thing is, I am not very experienced with dogs.
I am hoping you guys could help me figure out some things like
>Age
>Breed
>Exercise requirements
>How big can I expect this doggy to get? Labrador size?
>Best diet to ensure she grows big and strong
And in general, any tips for a new dog dude.
Take it to the vet and have it checked for diseases/parasites etc. Make sure you didn't bring a zoonotic disease vector into your home.
>>2394355
Alright, that's pretty sensible. I am planning to take her to the vet this week, to add a chip too and see if she needs any vaccines. I checked her and I wasn't able to find any bugs.
Bump
I am willing to take more pics if the ones provided are too shitty.
Why won't Pandas fuck?
they want to go extinct but we won't let them because they're hugely profitable
china owns all zoo pandas and uses them as barter and ransom with other countries
pandas are an interesting case study in evolution and developing adaptations
what is the prime directive of all life? procreation
animals have come to many different conclusions. Some bury eggs in the sand to protect them from predators
others nurse their babies and rear them very carefully
others give birth to hundreds and hundreds of spawn and just hope some of them manage to survive
These are only a few of many examples.
Now consider the panda...at first it looks like they have no strategy at all, what is their game?
Well, believe it or not they have a symbiotic relationship with another species...and that one is us.
Much like bees pollinate flowers. Pandas have evolved to be so aesthetically desirable to humans that we will breed and rear their young for them and guarantee they continue on as a species
pandas do fuck
they're not endangered. their numbers are growing in the wild and in captivity
it's just a meme zoos are selling for profiy
