I was dating this girl that I got along with really well, we made a bunch of plans together and instead she just broke off and started volunteering at a horse ranch and spends all her free time there mucking and doing chores with the animals. It's basically an obsession now, she doesnt go out or socialize. she just goes and visits the horses. I go sometimes and there arent any hot dudes there or anything so I don't get it. I started raising an eyebrow once she said she'd put the horses over our theoretical family.

She made no indication of having this obsession the first year and a half into the relationship. And my friends keep telling me to watch out for "horse chicks."

Seriously what the fuck is the deal?

Why do some people obsess over cars? Why do some people obsess over sports? People have their interests, if you don't think it's normal for someone to have an interest in something, then you must be the most boring person in the world

It is not just women anon, there are Men who are obsessed with horses. Actually I would say Men are more obsessed with Horses than Women.
