I'm going to school for Film Production and I want to edit videos as a job, does anyone have any tips or advice? I feel so lazy all the time and just want to do something productive. I'm also learning to use after effects.

Start up a youtube channel. Just fuck around with ideas in your head. I'd reccomend making fan made music videos for trippy music to REALLY push your skills. I'd start with a song from here.

I'd also reccomend learning GFX

Thanks for the replies by the way. I have actually started doing this, I guess I'm more worried about what I do when my skills are actually better. My parents constantly ask me about making money and a backup plan and it makes me nervous.

The only thing I know related to this is I have the element 3d plugin for after effects, but I will learn

Here's my first one so far if you were curious

It's okay for a first one. I'd reccomend chromakeying and putting interesting stuff behind it like those simpsonwave videos.

Any advice I can give you going into a creative field is; get as much experience as you can. Apply for internships while you are studying, ask if you can work once or twice a week at a place that is similar to what you do. And start now, the classroom can only teach you as much, but the struggle is to get your foot in the door to begin with and make sure you do it while you're studying. The last year of your studies should be mainly focused around getting a job no matter what how much you need to be doing in school.

I should have thought of that! It would have been easy!

I'm trying to look for internships now, I don't want to procrastinate but it feels like they all want people that are already experienced

Just remember that EVERYTHING has a flow to it. I'm musically inclined so the way things should move is second nature to me but you may not be. Just try to watch edits you just did over and over again to make sure it feels good man.

I'm definitely going to make more videos and I will use the simponwave video as a model for the next one

By the way, did you have any 3D programs you recommend?
>>18440234
Basically anything. I'd go to >>>/3/ to ask that question though. I haven't used a 3d program in a while. Last time I did it was for purposely bad 90's pre-rendered PC game style on a CGI program I don't remember the name of when I was 14.
