My first car accident

Call the cops, wait about a million years for them to come out so you can file a report, then call your insurance. Coverage varies, so who knows, if you have liability only, you'll have to pay for it, but your rates won't climb. If you have liability only then probably pointless to call the cops.

Actually. Call your insurance first, tell them cops are on the way, and see what they say. If you're on the hook for repairs anyway, forget the cops.

The thing is this happened at night while I was in a different town, say town Y. I should call the police even if I live in town X? It was night time and I didn't notice until I was at the gas station where there was enough light to actually see something

It's a BRZ but mine's white. The damage is pretty minor fortunately. It's hard to tell but some paint has chipped off
