All empires fall correct but all current identities in the world come from an empire. There are no "untouched" civilizations on this planet. Present tense excluded as present day american european and russian empires are hard to define.

The muslims DID cross the boarder. The muslims of Dagestan and Chechnya were not always there. Islam originated in the arabian peninsual and expanded due to, you guessed it, empire. While they might claim it was peaceful surely the native populations (themselves descendants of inhabitants of empires) would have protested. Islam did not originate in that asiatic region and it is absolutely not the native culture of the turkish people found there. They do not speak arabic and they did not pray to Allah before islam. So considering the muslims themselves who are now there were invaders at one point, what makes their occupation right and the russian one wrong? is it time? Then I say we wait a few hundred years and then we can claim Russian to be native there, no?
