Anywhere in the world there is war there is need for mercenaries.
Afganistan, Iraq and Syria probably have the biggest conflicts right now but other places like Somalia or Sudan could also be nice places.

Since you had to ask you don't got what it takes anyway, your best bet is to sing up for a private military company or a local militia in the conflict areas.

See, here's the thing, though. PMCs nowadays mostly do stuff conventional armies won't: guarding facilities or people, advising, consulting, training actual troops, stuff like that. In conflicts like these there are not many choices: some sides cannot afford mercenaries, some pay with counterfeit money which have no value. There are honest guys, sure, but, well, it is kinda complicated.

No military contractor will be interested in you unless you already have combat experience, why would they take you over an Iraq war veteran?
