Does this shit really exist? I've heard that it's pretty common. I'm applying for either Chemical engineering or Maths once the next academic year starts.
Anyone know if there actually is group work in college? If there is, how do you guys get out of it? I really dislike working with other people on projects due to bad past experiences.

Depends on the major, but generally, yes.

>If there is, how do you guys get out of it?
You don't do the work and get a failing grade.

You know, "working", as in "earning a paycheck", usually involves working with others. Learn to do it in class when you only risk your grade and get used to it for when your livelihood is on the line, mate.

I'm currently a senior Mechanical engineering student, 50% of my classes have group projects. You might want to avoid engineering.

My brother has a Chemical engineering major and most of his projects were group works, both in college and in the industry.

as someone who is all too familiar with people holding you back in school projects, I feel for ya. They are done in an attempt to encourage cooperative work ethic, but it just doesn't fucking work, it doesn't hold the same level of consequence. All you can do is try your best and hope the students who bother to do Uni are any better and report them if they are jeopardizing your grade.
