I was promoted today to a management position, the problem is that I feel like I haven't earned it nor am I suitable for the job.

I've chased this role for the last year but, now I have it, it feels wrong. What the hell can I do?

Pretend and do your best.

Just take it. You obviously did something to be promoted, so just accept it. Improve yourself as much as possible so that you will be able to do your job as effectively as possible.

Thanks, I figure if I go see the company shrink that's going to harm my chances when I am ready.

Impostor syndrome?

Realize that everyone is faking it all the time

Also most people are promoted to their level of incompetence

get over it and do your best. own it.

Thank you, that's exactly it.

Thank you all for the advice.

This feeling is just because of the fact that it is change. Change is always uncomfortable for everyone. After a while it won't feel like a change and you will be in a much better position. Btw what's your pay?
>>
go and read about the "peter principle". not kidding.

Dude..

No it's not. Doing something and managing a dozen people doing something are different skill sets.
>>
>it feels wrong.

>What the hell can I do?
