Hey /adv/. Got kicked out, staying at a friends place. I have about $10k USD in my bank account and I only have a semester of college under my belt. Should I work part time and continue college? If I do, that means I'll have to take out loans; Or should I just work in some retail job for a few years and save up my money and decide what I'm going to do from there? (I'm in computer science at the moment) What's the best option for me? Thanks.

Oh and I also forgot to include that I'm doing two years at a community college + last two years at a four year university.

Then you shouldn't need loans for cc. Just dip into your reserve for the schooling until you take out loans for the 4-year.

Do whatever you can to stay in your major cheaply. If you quit you might never feel the urge to go back and stagnate.

So it would be a better financial decision for the long run to finish college and get my CS degree now rather then to just take time off right? I'll probably have around 10k-17k debt max after getting my degree. Considering that CS majors get paid quite well straight out of college, I think I can somehow manage this.

By today's standard 15k student loan debt is actually on the low side.

I have ~30k from college and my payments are about 500 a month after refinancing one of them.

It's manageable.

The one thing you have more of than anything else in your life right now is Time. So I'd go with the "drop out, work for a while and save up" option. If that means you'll be a few years behind in getting through college, that is absolutely no big deal.
