Oh sure, my parents had to waste a lot of time, money and energies on me even if I was a responsible kid.

My first post wasn't meant as an insult, I was just saying that I literally cannot think what I'd do with my free time if I was a housewife. Let's assess first that a fetus is not technically its own individual yet. You can legally terminate up until the point where the fetus would survive if they were to be born (with some rare exceptions, like giving birth likely killing the mother). Which means, if you can legally have an abortion, the fetus is 100% dependent on the mother for life. They get their oxygen, nutrients etc all from the mother. At this point, they are biologically not an independent person. We look at them that way because we know they grow into independent people, but they really are a parasite who is very much part of the host and shares in her organism.

If someone kills a pregnant woman, it's a different situation for two reasons. The first being that it's not their choice to make - and whether or not you agree, there's an array of reasons for why a mother should be able to decide what happens to what is for all intents and purposes her own body. Secondly, it is assumed that the fetus was not going to be terminated, which means that while they were not their own person -yet-, they were almost certainly going to grow into one (because the one person who can rightfully prevent that hasn't chosen to do so) and you single-handedly prevented that person from coming into existence when you had no right to.
