This is human interaction in its most basic and sincere form. If you cant take anything away from it then you're not looking through the right lenses. You're not going to find some life-changing information here, or make meaningful connections or anything like that. You're here to look at a bunch of naked rednecks fighting in a pit of mud and feces and laugh at it. And occasionally jump in and wrestle with them. Because it's so fucking FUN. It's a moment of respite from all the conventions we created in society, from all the norms, all the worries and all the consequences. You summed it quite well, really, pressure free social interaction. It's great! YOU are the one who's not having fun, who's not growing as a person and who's not happy, not me. Because of your attitude and mentality. I'm not going to argue that killing time on 4chan is among the most productive of activities, because it's obviously not, but it can definitely be an entertaining and interesting activity, if nothing else.

If this site is making your life spiral downwards then there is also something wrong with you. You forgot that it's only a pit of mud and shit and you start to encapsulate your whole world in it, instead of encapsulating the pit in your world. You have been consumed by the shit and you grew to resent it. Which is a natural, healthy response and you should definitely take your own advice and leave. But don't assume that replacing 4chan with other mindless source would make everyone lives better.

by leaving this site you're not curing the illness, you're treating the symptom. Which is better than doing nothing, but definitely not the ideal solution.
