But OP, depending on where you are financially, if you can risk blowing 2700$, then its worth a shot. If you havent already, tell your lawyer you have no idea if they even have any money at all, and ask his opinion. If it's better to cut your losses or risk going into the red anymore.
If they have jobs that you know about, ask if it's possible for the judge to garnish their wages if youre concerned they wont pay up nicely.

I should clarify a little. I am not a 100% out to get all my money back. I was very willing to work with them even though they violated the contract. But when they cut and ran, and were dicks about it after I was flexable I looked to a lawyer.

Im would be willing settle for a partial payback and a big part of my hold up is that if i go forward I could loose more money, but I am almost willing to take the risk to prove a point.

I know the husband is employed, the exfriend never blocked me on facebook and best I can tell has mostly been a waitress or living off of boyfriends since their divorce.

I think you should go for it, especially if you have them pay all legal fees. If you don't take them to court, they will never ever pay you back and since you say they're horrible people, they will not give a fuck about whatever point you're trying to make.

I could also have the lawyer draft a letter of threat of lawsuit to try to force them into mediation. Once again I dont expect getting all my money back despite the contract.
