How fucked am I? I'm 19, unemployed, and I had my Medi-cal insurance cutoff during the month of April when I went to the ER. I think would have rather died. I'm fucking stressing out right now and haven't slept well in months.

Now I'm getting billed 5 grand and I called the hospital's finachial department and they told me it is pending under my insurance for that month and I might have to pay.

I live in California. I was born here as a citizen. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm losing my mind. I'm still sick (chronic dyspepsia and trouble breathing) and I'm also going through a bank identity fraud claim.

Please help me, just thinking about this bill makes me want to throw up and light headed. I'm thinking about leaving the state.

its five thousand dollars. it sucks, dont get me wrong, its not ideal or even good its bad. but its 5000. they will set you up with a payment plan. you will default on it. and you will get away with paying only 3,300 on it after youve saved the cash
>>
>>17567888
I'm never going to the fucking hospital again. I'm a peasant can't they just write this shit off. I rarely even went to the hospital before this year when I got ill. How am I supposed to know this shit beforehand?
>>
>>17567874
what are they going to do if you dont pay?
break your leggs?
calm the fuck down
>>
>>17567908
They're gonna get the fucking IRS on my ass. Then it'll be on my record and they'll keep taking it out of my bank account and wage garnishments. I've never even had that much money in my life and I live a shit life. And I'm still sick. Get this bullshit outta here.
>>
>>17567920
Actually, I'm not sure debt owed to a hospital can garnish your wages. That's stuff having to do with the government: taxes, bail bonds, unpaid tickets, etc. I mean, an outstanding unpaid bill like that will fuck your credit score, but it's not the end of the world.

I'm in a similar situation to you, I lost my insurance because my job gave my position away while I was on maternity leave without my knowing, so my entire labor and delivery was uninsured and now I can't afford childcare to go back to work full time like before. It sucks but I can only do what I can, paying very little by very little. Just for the record you can pay some small amount like $20 per month or something and they can't say jack shit to you.

It seems overwhelming but it really isn't the end of the world. It's just money. Calm down.

I don't know man. This bill is just sucking the life out of me. Food doesn't taste good anymore, masturbation isn't pleasureable. I still live with my parents. Fuck, 5 grand out of my pockets for absolutely no help. I'm just facepalming myself at this point.

I know. It was all I could think about, even when I was recovering from the birth and had my new baby in my arms. I felt like I couldn't be happy. It made my postpartum depression a lot worse than it could have been, I'd cry while I was feeding my baby and such.. I definitely know how you feel, especially since I was gainfully employed before the baby and thought that I'd have a way to pay everything off after all was said and done. I had the rug pulled out from under me.

But I kinda realized that there's more important things than money. Hospitals really don't care how much you pay as long as you're giving -something- each month and they don't have to call your ass all the time. Do me a favor and just take some deep breaths. It's certainly not a good position to find yourself in, but think of all the people in student loan debt of 10k+. They're carrying on. You can too.

Holy shit USA, what's going on there?
Why need to jew people even in a hospital?

>> Germany is the largest national economy in Europe, the fourth-largest by nominal GDP in the world, and fifth by GDP (PPP).

>> Germany has a universal multi-payer health care system with two main types of health insurance: "Statutory Health Insurance" (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) known as sickness funds (Krankenkasse) and "Private Health Insurance" (Private Krankenversicherung).

>> In 2004 Germany ranked thirtieth in the world in life expectancy (78 years for men). It had a very low infant mortality rate (4.7 per 1,000 live births), and it was tied for eighth place in the number of practicing physicians, at 3.3 per 1,000 persons.

You haven't heard of how the American health care system works? Where are you from?
>>
Thank you, I feel better now. I'll take it day by day and try not to think about it.
>>
>>17568006
It takes a while to get over it. Just do what you can... there is literally no other option so there's no point in getting all anxious about it and making your life miserable.

Good luck anon!

Did you have to pay interest when you didn't do payments?

Probably going to put it in the back of my head and not think about it until I'm addressed about it. For now, I want to eat food.
>>
>>17568021
No, I just let them know if I couldn't pay a certain time.

But it may be different for you. Just talk with the billing department and try to work something out.

medical debt can't get your wages garnished, it'll completely fuck your credit to the point where you wont be able to finance a car or buy a house, but they can't repossess anything from you

it isn't the end of the world, in the future you'll just have to rent and buy used cars or take mass transit
>>
>>17568061
Could I still get an apartment and get finachial aid for college?
>>
>>17567874
If more people voted for the socialist jew, we wouldn't have to worry about this
>>
>>17567874
Contact the hospital. They will greatly reduce the charges, get rid of them all together or set up a payment plan for you so long as you can prove you are unemployed and unable to pay.

Financial aid, i don't know how credit impacts that. You'll probably pay a much higher rate.

If you rent with a group of friends, likely they wont check your credit. But if you plan to get your own apartment or reach out through craigslist or roomster they will definitely check your credit. You can always explain the situation to them.
