I have so much "potential" but I'm severely lacking in the self control aspect it's becoming a problem and I want to solve it.

There is no trick to self-control. That's the whole point, it just is. Either you decide to control yourself or you don't, there's no betweens here. Some people are good at it, some are shitty and some learn through practice.
>I have so much "potential"
Yeah, pumpkin you and the other 7 billion people on the planet.
Read "The power of habit" by Charles Duhigg for starters.
Research what a keystone habit is, find yours. Mine is getting to bed at a decent time, and oddly enough, flossing my teeth. If I stick to those habits - which are very easy for me to do - everything else that's normally difficult is suddenly doable.
Thanks m80s I'll look into it
Practice outweighing pros and cons in your head. It's a simple method and becomes a habit quickly.
You can do it anon.

Thanks man, I only do this when I need to save my ass and worm my way out of tight situations never thought of doing it for daily life
Start working out. It makes you feel really good after the first week or two, and it instills a deep sense of commitment that extends into all other aspects of your life. And you'll look great.

Do something every day that requires discipline. Preferably something you dislike. Learn discipline once and you'll have it for the rest of your life.
