Recently moved to a new area and want to give tinder a try. I don't have much experience with any other apps or tinder etiquette in general, so is there anything I should do to not make an ass out of myself or anything I can do to spot bots or traps? Be gentle, /adv/.

How's your rl game

Shitty to mild depending on how much I've had to drink.
There are plenty of guides for this, just google it. Some standard tips are, show your face in the picture, use a good angle if you have to (tinder is all about looks to initiate matches). If you match with a girl, dont use the boring "hey/whats up/where u from" etc, you have to spark interest, since tinder girls get hundreds of matches and have alot to choose from... just google the rest of the tips

Unless you're very attractive (and if you were you would probably not ask for Tinder advice) don't bother. You're chances are better irl.
If you still feel like getting your soul crushed by getting rejected dozens of times within minutes, then do what the other anon said and just google for guides. Great pictures are a must and if you don't have anything but webcam selfies you might as well just give up now.
