Well, that aside, as an INTJ of long-standing and more spergy tendencies than is becoming of my station (read: grandpa) I would very strongly suggest that you not go in the military.

Have you ever met anyone in the military (outside of your recruiter, of course)? They are by and large absolute idiots; they aren't joining because they're turning down a scholarship. They want the immediate authority it will give them, will do the absolute minimum, and create such a cesspool of mediocrity that China will have no problem taking us over.

Come on. If you're a real aspie you will never survive. There have to be alternatives for you.

I did get in the military and am about to ship off literally less then 3 weeks. I did it because I didn't know what to do with my life after I was done with high school and I cant take it living with my parents. But your right it really isn't the place for me but its to late now I made the decision back in April.

havent been to the draft but think in hindsight I might have liked it, because of clear instructions and getting used to be disciplined.

depression is just a matter of thinking negative vs thinking positive. e.g. you can think like

Same with aspergers, you can see it as a hinderance, or you can see the strength.

economically, aspergers is the best thing you can do and for starting a family, you are trustworthy and always care for justice. That can make you very attractive for a group of solid quality girls. Even if you might struggle with women now.

aspergers feel differently, where other people are reacting in an angry, happy or sad way. their feelings are more bland, like a soup and they can only say, the soup is hot, salty, sour.
Often they learn that people tend to be unpredictable.

The difference is that you dont necessarily need to be smart to have asperger.
Alot of people with asperger have a problem socialising with other people because of the fact that alot of stuff that is normal/common sense for alot of "normal" people needs to be learnt rather than it coming naturally. But then again, not all people with aspergers has the same problems. The list can be made longer aswell

You can drop out of the military, up to the day of shipping. You are still a civilian. I am in the same boat as you, except I am going into the Navy to be a nuclear technician. My parents make me feel awful, and I have no money for college. I don't ship for several months, though.

Idk, it can become really difficult to not see If the persone you're talking to is getting annoyed at you or not, and If you should carry on talking or to stop. Or to not be able to handle stuff that people in your age should be able to handle (school is a problem for me).
