Do you ever feel like a robot mimicking other people's behaviour just to fit in?Just to be socially acceptable?I pretend to laugh at people's jokes.I pretend to enjoy socialising more than I actually do.I pretend to empathise when people are having a shitty time.It worries me.I mean, don't get me wrong,I can feel empathy, joy, sadness, all the colours of the rainbow of emotions.I just don't feel them that strongly.Other people seem to strongly express emotion.Generally I don't feel anything in particular,I just sort of am.But I get the feeling that most people feel the same way.Do we perhaps play up our emotions, put on some sort of facade to exaggerate our feelings, one big circle jerk where we pretend to give a shit. Not necessarily looking for advice, just want to know how other people perceive it.

I feel that any animal or machine that mimics humans too closely should be destroyed. I have no idea why i just feel that way.
>>
>>17385656
I agree,it's kinda unsettling
>>
Try doing the myers briggs test,it might be your personality perhaps. We are all different but similar at the same time.I feel the same as you do.
>>
>>17385656
It is rather unsettling, but this probably doesn't comfort OP much.

>>17385653
OP, some slight mimicking is ok, but only if it helps you and is actually useful. Make sure that you project your personality first and foremost, and then add some things on that may help. It's ok to copy people a bit if it makes you a better person.

>>17385653
No, I don't, and that kind of twofaced cucks trigger me.
>>
>>17385676
Thanks I'll give that a shot
>>17385681
That's the thing,I feel like my personality is just an amalgamation of other people's personalities.I mean,do we "find" ourselves or do we create ourselves?
>>
>>17385688
Don't see how it's two-faced,my emotions just aren't strong. Also shitty use of the word "cuck"
>>
>>17385692
I think it's some of both.

You should figure out your own beliefs on some things, such as what you think the meaning of life is, who you want to be, what your values are, etc. Make sure when you do this, you are *not* influenced by others' ideas or the media. Try as hard as you can to think your own thoughts. Maybe give that process a try, it might help.
>>
>>17385709
Thank you for your advice.Strangely enough,I'm quite sure of my beliefs, values and aspirations.I guess they have shaped who I am to an extent.
>>
>>17385699
>that is exactly what a cuck would say

You are not being completely honest and faking your emotions. That is enough for me.
>>
>>17385656
I bought my daughter one of those 'Tickle Me Elmos' way back in like, 2010 when they were hot shit and new. It let you program in their Name, Chores, etc.

I eventually ended up 'losing' it, because the way she had conversations, changed her opinion based on what he said, and talked about it like it was sentient really bugged me for some reason.
>>
>>17385727
Okay sorry mister perfect

>>17385692
Apparently have a Mediator Personality (INFP, -A/-T) doesn't explain some things but was interesting.
>>
>>17385755

>>
>>17385796

I basically feel the same way, I've never (((naturally))) gotten along with others and I don't think I ever will, at least not in the US with its current culture

I'm getting really good at blending in and getting people to like me, but I know I'm not truly one of them
>>
>>17386541
You used the triple parenthesis meme wrong.
>>
>>17385653
I work in retail and this is pretty much me every day. I'm lucky that where i work the customers are generally nice, but i just really act like I'm engaged and imterested in the conversations but i really don't care. Even hanging out with friends feels like that a lot, but there are a few certain people i really do enjoy spending time with, and i consider myself lucky to know them.
>>
How would I go about faking these emotions? Or rather, playing them up in such a way that I appear more empathetic? I'd like to get better at these things for social reasons.
>>
>>17386646
It can be used to emphasize other shit too nigger I didn't wanna go NATURALLY because then it sounds like I'm rustled
>>
How old are you?
I used to be like that kind of, but things happend and now I'm way more emotional and empathetic...

The only things I feel strongly are depression, Guilt, and Anxiety... everything is dulled... most people know me as the happiest, cheeriest person in the world... what they don't know is its just an act, an overcompensation, I'm actually just a ball of depression, anxiety and horrible guilt... the only reprieve I get from the depression is when I just feel empty... emptiness has become... a good thing for me.

Yep, you literally have to act that way if you expect to get anywhere in life. I don't care about anyone I work with, but I've gotten 2 raises in my first year at this job by charming the bosses and pretending to care about the company. Education and experience are not nearly as important as networking. Unfortunately, to get normies to like you, you have to do some serious acting.

Here are some baseline rules to follow:
>Never look down when walking or when talking to someone. Others will either think you're a pussy or a serial killer. Look past people when walking by at eye level, and always hold the other's gaze when conversing
>Smile often, showing teeth. Always smile when greeting another. If you're having trouble faking a genuine-looking smile, imagine something that always makes you laugh. Freeze your mouth at that initial chuckle.
>Never reveal your power level. Even if a coworker mentions owning an Xbox, they probably only play Madden or Cawadooty. Nobody wants to hear about you completing Hyper Dimension Neptunia at 100%.
>Maintain a general knowledge of popular sports and local news. You don't have to actually watch sports; the ESPN app will hit you with sentence-long highlights that you can regurgitate to others to start a conversation. There are a million news apps that serve the same purpose.
>It's also a good idea to take 5 minutes to watch whatever stupid America's Got Talent act is trending on Youtube. This is frequently a topic of conversation amongst normies.
>Ask lots of questions. People fucking love talking about themselves.
>If you're invited to a party or company event, suck it up and go. There is usually enough alcohol to make it bearable, and the networking opportunity will help you in the long run
>Speaking of, you should build up a decent alcohol tolerance. Obviously be careful not to let it spiral into full-blown alcoholism, but just make sure you're able to take a shot or two for a special occasion without making an ass of yourself.
