In theory, if only because many people "facebook stalk" potential meetups before hand for safety. You'd be surprised how many red flags people post publicly online. If I came across a dude without a fb, I'd probably be slightly more hesitant to meet him or at the very least I'd take much longer in talking to him and getting a good feel for him before I met him in person than usual.
But this only works if you actually use it of course. If you don't want one then don't get one. Its not that big a deal
Do you need facebook to get a snpachat? Snapchat is what you really need

If you get it and actually maintain it well, yes. Otherwise it may do more harm than good.

not OP but I can't convince myself that my snaps are interesting unless they're of like a house on fire or borderline porn, so I don't snap anyone

You only need a cell phone. Facebook is for tools, nobody cares about how you felt about you're lunch or you're opinion on colors. I look at women who mess with that nonsense differently. People who actually have exciting lives don't mess with that shit.

that's simply not true
as someone who actually uses it I see people posting about their lunches and people posting about their fantastic adventures and shit
so the "everyone who uses it sucks" argument against it is kind of falling through here
