Yeah, I think I'm over the honeymoon period. There are a couple of evergreen thread topics that I like to visit, but it has gotten fairly repetitive now. Could be because it's finals week for schools? Not sure.

there's some boards where the humor or actual content make it mildly enjoyable
like i enjoy visiting /an/ from time to time
but yeah i don't think it's very good for you
i had to stop going on /mu/ and some other boards cause everyone is so depressing

I'm a hopeless addict, but this place is just horrible. Sometimes, out irl I'll be thinking about 4chan stuff and how horrible it is and how bad I feel about myself since I've been on here. I'm female, and having to plow through all the 'You must be fat" retards posts every time I offer a dissenting opinion is not only offensive, misogynist, but it's also just tiresome. It's BORING. Even the porn is retarded and boring. It's just the same sad shit over and over again. No, this place is definitely horrible. To the point that I wonder if this isn't a kind of j- horror dealy. I mean, this place is creepier than fuck. What the FUCK is going on?

I frequent /ic/ because I'm an artfag, and people there are more inclined to give honest critiques backed with some sort of reason, and it encourages me to improve on my work. However it's a pretty slow board (naturally).
I also visit /mu/ to keep up with new music releases and some part of me enjoys watching people be ridiculous towards each other for no real reason beyond boredom. However, /mu/ gets really depressing if you stay for long enough.
/x/ can be pretty amusing just because of the sheer retardation. But that wears off after you've read most of the original greentext spoops.
Then there's /adv/. I come here because it makes me feel better about my current situation.
4chan is just another place to fuck about on the internet.

I also come to /adv/ sometimes when I need to vent too, cause it sometimes makes me feel better.

4chan has worn me down.

I used to spend a lot of energy investing myself into the comments I would post because I wanted my opinion to be valued as a contributing member.

Something I realized a few years after trying (and failing) for this to happen is that 4chan is, at its heart, a hedonistic society. The people who post here only value other users for the entertainment they provide at any given time, or in lieu of failing that, they try to tear each other down for their own enjoyment. It's upsetting knowing that I've wasted a decade of my life here.

So true. I'm still in the phase where if I get a thank you or "oh, I didn't know that", then it still overcomes all the ugly posts from haters. But I do find myself scowling inadvertently when threads have had a particularly vile day.

Leave. I left long ago. I browse only like once every or twice few months. Adv is the only board I frequent from time to time to help people when I'm stuck in bed while nursing. My mobile phone is my only entertainment then.
