I want to start coding. /adv/ what should I start with?
First think of some kind of program you want to write, then do some research and figure out what language would be best for that program, then find a tutorial online and start going through it? Dunno, that's how I learned C++. Wanted to make a mod for a game that was in C++ so I learned it and that's that.
thanks for the help, I guess I want to write programs.

compile linux from source and learn bash. then you'll be ready.

fucking what who where, explain to me like I am an imbecile
Easiest way would be codecademy. Start with java to learn basic object oriented programming.

Personally I'd go with C# and visual studio and start by learning the basics and then moving to simple console and windows forms applications. Later on you could also download Unity3D and do simple games with it using C# which is a lot more fun than doing the 10591069th BMI calculator.
Focus on learning one language well because after that it'll be a lot easier to learn new languages, it should be fairly simply to move on to C/C++ from C# and even more so to Java because it's almost identical to C# (but shittier)

Like guy below me said c# is also good one to start with.

you started with the right answer but then you ended up at C++, which is pretty fucked up.

Mate not my fault the game I wanted to mod was written in that shit. I'm not suggesting OP learn C++, that's just what I did.
